What do y'all do to fill your time before next season? :dunno:

Post by: sakoshooter on January 09, 2014, 08:14:11 PM: I shoot archery a lot. Sporting clays, skeet, trap. Rifles and handguns also. Camp, fish, hike and scout. Never home. No time to think about how long it is till the next season.

Where do you coach? I've got JV boys at Lake Washington HS starting up soon so I'm sure that will eat up a lot of time

Volunteering's not a bad idea either. Any excuse to get in the woods is fine by me :tup:

Shelton. I am the head coach full time of my 7 year olds U8 team. They've been together for 4 seasons now and will probably stay together until U19 unless someone moves or something. I also coach strikers part time on my 12 year olds team. I'm also on the board of directors of a club trying to get a select program in all age groups off the ground in an area that has never had a select program

They've never been taught how to play the game at all and with the exception of about 3 kids, are only there for screw off time anymore. They used to be the top team in the area but have been getting destroyed because they were never on the same learning arc as the other teams who got proper coaching and are now so far behind the curve, they seem like they've lost interest.

I decided that I wasn't going to let that happen with my youngest. When he started playing as a 6 year old last year, I was his coach. I hand selected 10 other kids from that league and put them all together and we've been together since. They can be taught properly from an early age, not fall behind and lose interest, and maybe stand a chance to go somewhere with the sport. They will have 1 consistant coach to look to for guidance instead of a different person every season. I also have my "E" license and will be getting my "D" license later this year and "C" license next year so they will have some proper structure to learn in.

Hopefully you can keep your u8's together. Have friends to this day, that I made playing club soccer.

Coaches for them coach a season and then they're gone. Hopefully with keeping these 8 year olds together under me, I won't have the disciplinary problems I have with the older kids
