I have never used Under Armour, other than the mock turtlenecks. I love my Sitka Gear. Each year Santa adds to my collection. It is very durable, some of the pieces I have are going on 8 years old and still have a lot of life in them.
For the price I wish santa would hook me up with some lol

I like the camo choices in Under Armour, but that is where the advantage stops with me. I've spent a bundle on UA over the past five years. And I eventually gave every stitch of it away. In that regard Sitka is one heck of a deal! I just wish we had traditional options in patterns to go along with the Opti-Fake. And, I wish they would make a soft texture Goretex pant that wasn't a rain shell.

Usually doesn't until it does. I've been close to hypothermia more during early archery season than I have during late season. Mainly because I had convinced myself it doesn't rain or hail in September :bdid: :chuckle:
I started using Sitka mainly because their Ascent pant was so dang good for early elk season. Then I got turned on the their Core-T because it was so good at keeping me dry during hard climbs in hot weather. I actually find their active gear better suited to the early archery hunter than it does to the mid or late season hunter. Seems to make a big jump from there to the late tree stand hunter.

Check into X Systems. I've used their products for years, just the lightweight stuff, but it still works after 5 or 6 years of hard use. It wicks away moisture and will keep the odor down with its silver technology. It's about 1/3 the cost of most products out there. The only place I've found it is on line but it's worth every penny.
I had a pair of their lightweight base layer and the stuff was awesome! I finally wore it out about the time I found Sitka. I tried to find it again and couldn't. I thought they had gone out of business. Just found them online. Never knew they had camo stuff! I might have to drop a few bucks and get better acquainted with what they have to offer these days.
When I wore the stuff I rarely ever got bitten by mosquitoes. Not sure if it's the silverthread or what, but it was dang nice not having to reapply Ben's every hour. Could go three days in the back country without getting too pitted out. The stuff definitely works and fitted me well.

Under Armour:
1. I've tried thier gear on, the vests and jackets are great. however, thier gear is heavier that pretty much all of sitka's gear if you compare apples to apples.
2. thier pants do not have the same mobility that sitka's pants have.
3. the price is surprising pretty expensive for the quality of the garments.
Sitka:
This is where I have experince and I'm very very pleased with Sitka.
1. This gear is not considered "Ultra-light", however, it is made for mountain hunting so it is alot lighter than the standard garments.
2. The technical detail is incredible of these garments. lots of very handy pockets and features on thier pants shirts and jackets.
3. Layer SYSTEM, this is meant to be a system. If you buy individual items and use them, they will not preform as well as they would if you were using a designed system.
4. They are for athletic hunters, being someone who hunts 10-15 miles per day during elk season. this gear performs flaulessly. it is made perfectly for lots of movement and sweat, heat, cold ect.
5. this is my system, That has worked for me from 80 degrees down to 12 degrees.
Core zip t or merino layer
traverse zip t
jetstream vest
mountain pant
ball cap
bandit.
This has worked really well for me.

Looking for a new complete system. Ill be using during early archery/deer and maybe late deer as well.
Terrian varies to rocky to brushy and steap. And usually hike 5-12miles a day on estimate

Sitka is good/great...so is Kryptek and KUIU.

I have some merino from Minus 33 that I wear for work every day from October through March. It's going on two years old now and is still going strong.
I suppose if you are wearing it as outerwear it might not last, but as a base I think it lasts just fine.

I know some that wear it as an outer. I've always worn it as a base layer. Elbows, knees and collar are where I had problems. Moths got to one shirt. It must have been tasty stuff cuss they demolished it quick >:(

That's about 1.5 years longer than I have ever gotten out of merino. Must be some good stuff or not 100% merino :dunno:

It's 100% Merino. I can wear it for a week with no odor, and that's saying something. Very soft and very comfortable.

For base layer doesn't matter to me if it was Flo Pink. Which BTW I had some silk base layer stuff back in the 80's that was purple. Stuff was awesome! But I think my old girlfriend must have got it from some transvestite fashion store or something. And no clothing is worth going into a place like that :chuckle:
I'd go with kuiu myself, I'm very happy with the stuff I've bought. Size up 1 on the pants.
Kuiu is probably the best made stuff I have ever seen. Only problem is you had better be fit and trim to get it to fit properly. I'm about 25 years too late for that to work >:( The new Verde camo is a huge step in the right direction too! Just about the right tone yet still has good contrast. I was really disappointed the raingear would not fit my fat arse without going two sizes too big and then nothing fit except my fat belly and my buttox. Stuff is definitely made for the human mountain goat.

First Light is better merino than Kuiu. Kuiu makes great outer wear, and decent merino, but for the same price, First Light has better, longer lasting merino.
:yeah: I agree. First Light is in a league of it's own as far as merino goes.
IMO Kuiu is on par with Smartwool...It's good, but it's not great.

First Lite was the only wool I've worn in direct contact with my skin that I didn't have a reaction with. The cut was fantastic! And the biggest plus of the First Lite was Sitka's biggest weakness and that is torso length. I could tuck and climb without having to retuck every five minutes. For a fluffy guy like me Sitka's Core-T is about 3-4" too short. Not naval piercing or arse crack show off short, but too short to keep tucked during a hard climb.

For me I'm a mid road Sitka XL unless I need a late season rain shell (6'1"/235# post morning poo) . In the Kuiu tops I tried XXL and it was very tight around the mid section and the shoulders - one size too baggy everywhere else. I expect if you are very muscular you might have some shoulder issues ordering your normal size. I have not found a Kuiu pant that has enough posterior to not cut off the circulation in my testicles - that's certainly not good :yike:. The Spindrift jacket fits ok at XL, but the sleeves are a little short and if I reach across my body the shoulders get mighty tight. In comparison Sitka's Kelvin jacket and Ascent pant in XL fit like they were made just for me.

Kuiu seems a little more athletic cut than Sitka. I have several pieces of both, and Kuiu is a little better quality, imo, and cheaper. I just got a couple pieces of Kryptek that I think I am going to like too.

Not the quality of Kuiu or Sitka, but I liked the fit. Seem like really good guys to support! And if they keep the Mothwing... WAY better camo IMO. Only problem I had as a bowhunter was the sleeves forward of the elbow were a bit too spacious. If I had kept the stuff I tested/played with I would have ripped out the seams in that area and restitched to get a better archers fit.
