So a buddy of mine called today and told me to come over and look at his deer he harvested....Well i got there and it is half white...Just a spindly 2 point but is the coolest deer I have ever seen!!! I will have to get pics in a little while!!!
-
So its not a true albino but is a very very unique buck!!! Wish I had taken it...I would be out a few thousand to get a life size mount done on it!!!
-
These are just cell phone pics but they give you a good idea...
-
weird! what happened to the neck?! Grats!
-
He shot it twice!!! As you can see in the neck...lol
-
what a waste of a awesome hide! :bash:
-
He is tanning the hide!!!! Kind of made a mess of the neck but it will still turn out very neat.....
-
Sometimes 1 shot just aint enough...kind of like vodka
:chuckle:
-
neat piebald buck.
cool.

Those are actually called "Pinto" deer...not a true albino but some genes in the system. I have taken or seen several somewhat the same but not with as much marking. I did see one true albino 2pt. taken in the greenwater area over 20 years ago and I saw a true albino doe on the Snoqualmie treefarm about 15 years ago on the hoof when I was hauling logs out. It will sure make a nice and extra special trophy tanned hide and conversation piece.............Les

never herd em called pinto's always piebalds but it makes sense just like the horse huh?
-
They are technically and scientifically referred to as Piebalds. They are commonly referred to as Pinto's or Calico's. Verbage aside, that is one cool looking deer and one to remember
-
i know its legal to shoot a piebald but i heard its illegal to shoot a true albino, does anyone know
-
Ive seen three deer like that. Two in Columbia county Oregon back in the 70's and one in the Washougal unit a couple of years back. Cool looking animals.
-
If you want to see one like that just make a trip to Fox Island. In all the years of land surveying over there i have seen several like that.
Beautiful animal. Congratulations.
-
There used to be a couple piebalds out around Little Mountain in Mt. Vernon several years ago...I saw them two or three winters in a row.
Neat looking, that's for sure.
-
There are a few of them in the Yakima river valley. I've seen a buck and had a customer take a doe 2 years ago. Heard of 3 others since then.
-
cool. 8) buckluckys wife shot a piebald buck last year i think
-
Kinda strange lookin, but Cool!!
-
Very cool looking deer!
-
Very Nice! Congrats. Yes the scientificly it is referd to as I piebald. Use to get quite a bit of them in Georgia.
-
Looks like a pack of Wolves got to it around the neck area :chuckle: Nice little buck, great story piece in the future.
-
I have a picture of a 2 pt just like that one I took off of 504 near the mouth of the green. I was going fishing and it was bedded down near the road. cool looking buck
-
Once in a lifetime for a buck like that. good job.
-
I've only seen 3 in my lifetime. One in Oregon west side. One near Yakima, and one at Elkstufers shop, that a guy had brought in to be tanned. All three doe's. That's really cool!!!!!
-
I have seen two deer that looked just like that. Also my buddy killed one that looked just like that about 5 years ago.
-
I saw one a couple months back.
-
Badger neck! When's the last time you saw a nice deer rug? That'd be my vote. Very cool.
-
Used to see albinos in Wenatchee
Looks like that neck got caught on a barbed wire fence. Nice of you guys to take him home.

I know this thread is kind of old but I just saw this question and it seems that nobody ever answered it. I believe it's been discussed on here before, but the answer is that albino deer are not protected in this state. Used to be many years ago, but not anymore, and that's as it should be. There is absolutely no reason an albino needs to be protected.

I used to see a few piebalds every year in the pysht tree farm area on the oly pen. anybody hunt that area now? seen any in there? sad to say I havent hunted that area in quite a few years now. We would see a number of blackies with palmated antlers in the same area too, I was always hoping to take a piebald with palmated antlers, but never connected. Very cool deer, congrats!
-
Very cool, got one almost exactly like that a few years back, made a great soft tan to hang over my railing!!
-
I seen a couple if twin yearling's that were white from th belly up in Vail. The belly and legs were brown and all wite abovr the belly. Spoted the deer for 3 scouting trips before the season started, it was nice to watch them, but than momwas killed on opening day. The guy never saw the yearlings and was surprised when the ran off, only feet from were momlay dead.
I talked to him after the fact and told him i have been watching them for a few weeks now, he wished he would have seen them, he would have loved to tag one, even if they were pretty small.
-
Nice little Piebald for sure. There is a piebald yearling running around Goldendale this year. Its markings are only on his face though.
A true albino deer is very rare..... only 1 in more than a million are born annually and should not be confused with Piebald deer which are more common..

Thanks Bobcat!
