Hi everyone my son just moved to the Seattle area this summer. We are talking about getting together for a hunt out there. His vacation time is limited so I'm thinking about a guided black bear hunt.
I've have lots of connections in the local hunting community but haven't found a local person who has hunted in Washington to make any recommendations for guides and outfitters. So that's why I'm here, can anyone here steer me towards a good outfitter?
Other questions I have are, if I read the regs correctly that fall bear hunting starts in August. I farm and mid September through October is a busy time of year for me. Is the hunting good in late august and early September?

If you can head north across the Canadian border you can spring bear hunt. If you did not get a bear, you would probably be the first person to not get one. When I went up there, I counted 64 bears in four days. I have the name of a very successful guide if you want. I also got a wolf that went into the record books up there with him.

I will look it up when I get a chance and get it to you. (honest) The name is Collins Guide Service but don't have the specific info on the tip of my tongue.

What were the permit costs like? Do you have to hire an outfitter or can you DIY?

If you are asking me about the Canadian hunt, it is against the law for you to do a DIY if I remember correctly.
