Title: Anyone near Vancouver have a bullet puller and free tomorrow?
Post by: Pete112288 on January 27, 2014, 03:54:02 PM
I am looking at buying a TC Thunderhawk from a family friend. It was her fathers before he passed and she let me borrow it to test it out. It has a load in it currently and the issue I have is that I dont have a bullet puller or the time/dollars to go get one. This model the breech plug is not removable, or I would just take the plug out and push the load out. I only have tomorrow afternoon or wed to shoot it so I need to try to take care of it before then. Also, I only have musket caps and this one takes the smaller primers. I plan on getting a musket knipple eventually but if anyone with a puller has a few of thos caps that i could bum then I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

I would just shoot the bullet out. Or has that already been tried? You could pick up a can of #11 caps for less than $10. A bullet puller would probably be less than $5. But as long as the powder will ignite, you don't really need a bullet puller.

It should fire as long as it wasn't stored in a humid environment.

Can you remove the nipple and use compressed air to push the powder and bullet out?

Ya know, I may be able to do that. Just gotta get to my folks to use their compressor.

If you find caps it should shoot, unless it's been stored in a damp place which would cause it to rust up too.
