With help from wannahunt who told where to go we got this deer. When we got over there on wensday we got into a wind storm and had trouble seeing. Thursday morning was nice and we found this deer right off and she made a 150 yard shot. We saw lots of elk but only 2 legal bucks in two days so we were really happy to follow the map we got and to find this deer.

We saw this buck the first day but the wind was blowing so hard she could;nt keep on it so we had to wait until the next day. We might have ruined her as a hunting partner she shoots a 243 but we did;nt think it would be the gun to use over there so we slipped a 300 ultra mag to her and she said she would never shoot that gun ever again. We sure had fun being from the coast and being use to lots of trees and brush it was fun to be able to see. They have been talking of putting up a windmill on the hill behind your house and to see the size of them was something to see. I had never been in the quilomene before and on a post I made I asked for some help and was given great direction by another member and was very grateful for the help. The reason for the dog is that a couple days before our hunt our female got her neck through a blanket and chocked to death so we took him with us but he is just a pet not a hunting dog. Sorry to offend.

Awesome buck, tell her congratulations.

I don't think anyone was offended about the dog, I think everyone was joking around. I was wondering what he was looking at :P

Congrates again on the nice buck for your wife. The reason I forgot to mention the bad roads is that they are so much better now then they were before the windmills went in. The stretch between the visitor center and the sub-station used to scare me to death when there was a little bit of snow or even just heavy rain. It all sloped down off that steep hill side. Glad you had a great hunt. :rockin:

Sorry to hear about your other pup. Bad way to start a hunt. Think of what is going through that little fellars mine. He is thinking that leg bone is as big as him. Glad you enjoyed the eastside and also glad someone from teh site helped you all out. Make sure the misses knows she got a dandy.

Thanks for all the nice things said about our hunt to hunt as a family made it special. She would kill me if she new how to get on my computer but she is 65 and loved every minute we were out. AT our age the hills look steeper but the fun of being out enjoying the things nature often makes you forget some aches we loved the chance to be there. Hope everyone gets to draw there special tag someday. THANKS

Outstanding pic, tell her congrats

Great buck. I'm new to the Ellensburg area (going to college) and LOVE to go out and take pics of deer in the rut/winter range. Any areas or roads you feel worth checking out in the Quilomene during the next month and a half before they shed?
