Hey all, I am Zach, a 15 year old from Puyallup Washington. I have been playing outside in the dirt since I could crawl. And fishing ever since I could hold a pole, I just started bass fishing 4 years ago and have still not caught my lunker. Ever since I was a kid I have been Interested in hunting but nobody in my family wanted to take me out in the field. Last year my dad got interested in hunting and got me talking and boom I started saving for a shotgun. We decided to start off with birds and move to deer next year. After a year of saving I have started looking for my first gun. I am looking for a shotgun to go wetland birds, upland birds, turkeys, and coyote hunting. Right now I am looking at a stoeger m3500 and I really like it and think it's the gun for me. But the reason I am writhing this is to get some experienced hunters advice on what I should look for an what guns are right for me and any tips you have for new hunters! Anything helps!! Thank you!

Welcome to Hunt-Wa.
The most important thing about a shotgun is to find one that fits you. With interchangeable choke tubes, any shotgun will work for what you are looking for.
One to consider would be the Mossberg 500 as they make a combo kit that includes a rifled barrel for deer hunting, or even elk if you go 12 gauge. If you go this route, look for the cantilevered scope mount on the rifled barrel as it, in my opinion, can give better accuracy than a mount on the action.
Good luck. Hunting can lead to a lifetime of fun and adventure.

I am by no means an expert, but I still give advice. Go to a gun shop and shoulder a few shotguns. When I was first looking for a shotgun, I had my heart set on a Browning Gold. At the gun shop I shouldered a Browning Gold and also a Remington 11-87 and probably a few more(long time ago). The Remington when shouldered felt more natural and I lined up better with the bead. My best advice is go by what feels good in your hands. There are many excellent shotguns on the market.

With a 12 gauge shotgun you can legally hunt either huntable specie in Washington.
An 870 is a proven shotgun and hard to beat.
