A little overdressed but it was sweet.

I'll bet it is driving PETA members crazy!!!
-

-
Looked like a pimp to me.
-
The fur coat was pimpin, but its that tan that bothered me.
-
That was awesome. I thought about posting it here as well.
-
I bet PETA was freaking out about that coat!
-
Was that coyote with an arctic fox collar?
-
yes that was coyote with a artic fox collar and hood liner.
-
That was nothing new. It was his trade mark jacket back in the day. You guys would've hated him. He was the kaepernick of that time.
-
I hope it helps the fur industry. That would help the trappers out.

:yeah: I thought his fashion got him thr nickname broadway hoe?
-
Who did he want to kiss?
Joe Namath Drunk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQqIQyT-RuM#)
-
Yea, they showed him, and his wife/girlfriend walking out onto the field before the coin toss. She also had a big fur coat on

"He was the kaepernick of that time."
I can't comment on that; I was very young when he was in his prime. Most of the boys around me idolized him. I always thought he was a stud. Looking at the photograph, I would have to say he still is.

That Ref Was pretty quick :dunno: Joe is a bada
-
Looked like a pimp to me.
Joe Namath earned his right to look like a pimp or whatever else he wants to look like.
-
I think that ref just wanted an opportunity to intercept Joe Namath.

I wasn't even alive then. I watched his HBO documentary and immediately became intrigued and read up a little. I only say he was like the Kaep of his time because of their similarities off the field and how different they were from the stereo typical QB of their generation. Namath was a playboy off the field. He had pro athlete celebrity status before pro athletes were even thought of as celebreties. He wore crazy outfits, made memorable commercials, did playboy-esque photo shoots, womanized, enjoyed the night life, associated with questionable individuals, etc...he was even notorious for showing up to practice (and sometimes games) drunk or hung over. He did not always address the media respectfully or professionally. He was at the center of controversy on several occasions. He was also an outstanding athlete for his time.
If you don't like Kaep now, you most likely wouldn't have liked him for all the same reasons.

OK, P-man, I get your point, but just to be clear, I wasn't making a value judgement on Joe himself, just his choice of apparel. Part of Joe's schtick has always been entertainment. If he had showed up in a suit and tie, no one would be talking about him today. I get it. Just thought the coat was dumb and out of place.

At least he didn't show up in pantyhose. Or maybe,... :yike:
-
Considering he was in like Superbowl V or something like that, about 43 years ago or so, I thought he looked pretty good. Better than the average superstar. Obviously he wasn't worried about being PC. Gotta love that!
-
Priceless

how was it dumb or out of place? he was the opening act for the largest sporting event in the country.

If you annoy these guys, you're probably doing something right.
PETA also tweeted an image of a pile of skinned animals with the message, “FYI @RealJoeNamath: Here’s the REST of your fur coat.”

"Dumb" is just a subjective opinion. You may believe otherwise and that's fine. I think he was out of place because, in your own words, the event was largest sporting event in the country and the athletes that had worked so hard for this day. Joe could have respected that and presented himself with the dignity of the moment but he chose to make the moment about himself. A bit cheezy I thought.
-
Hed have fit right in if the superbowl would have been a couple hours later.

There's one PETA-rd responding on the whole article. Really typical.
-

That was probably his sponsor, keeping Joe off the juice for an hour or two

Its all part of the show. Did the half time show take away from the athletes who worked so hard for this day? The continuous commercial breaks? The "Super" bowl is supposed to be a grandiose occasion and that jacket only built up the show that much more... Look people today aren't just talking about the game; we are talking about the commercials, the half time show and even the guy tossing the coin.
-
Joe Namath showed up dressed like Joe Namath. The half time act showed up in funny clothes. It is all entertainment for the masses. Respecting the athletes? The athletes work hard but they are paid well to entertain us while doing what they chose to do.
I think some of those commercials should have been more respectful of the dignity of the event. Really. :chuckle:

Loved the Coat!!!

Coyote and fox. Keep killing those dogs, boys. You might be covering Namath's butt! :chuckle:
-
P-Diddy wearing a SEAHAWKS shirt under his red fox fur coat that the bought from the same guys in New York - standing in front of what is probably his bazillion-inch flat screen during the coin toss.

That's pretty cool, I don't care who you are.
-
I never thought I would see the day where a picture of Puff Daddy wound up on this forum
-
:chuckle:
Well, he is wearing a Seahawks shirt, he's with Joe Namath, and they're both wearing fur coats, so...
Now, if a "Puff Daddy is the shiznit" thread popped up with just him sporting his non-fur fashion line... then I would have to agree with you and say "Well played, Internet - you win."
