Title: Any Carbon Matrix shooters?
Post by: JLS on February 03, 2014, 10:12:21 PM: I've been contemplating an upgrade from my Mathews Q2 to a new(er) bow. I have a line on a 2013 Carbon Matrix, and I know the owner.

For those of you that have shot them/hunted with them, what are your thougths? Good, bad, ugly? Durability issues, finish issues, tuning issues?

I shot some new Hoyts a while back and was very impressed with them.

Post by: KenPCPilot on February 03, 2014, 10:46:12 PM: I shot one in 2012 and I was surprised how much vibration like sensation I felt. It fast but I personally perfer a smooth draw dead in hand bow. When I shot it and seveal others when I was chosing a new bow at the same shop I made this list
1. Bowtech Admiral
2. Mathews Z-7
3. Hoyt Carbon matrix

I still love my Bowtech. The only other big addition was the Spot Hogg Seven Deadly Pins site. I really got my shot group consistency better with it. good luck.

It is a Good bow. It has a very Bad performance to price index. And it is about as Ugly as any bow ever made (Except perhaps the 2014 version of the same thing)!

If I had to chose between a Mathews Q2 or a Hoyt Carbon Matrix it would take less than a millisecond for me to make that decision. I'd take the Hoyt.

Lucky for me I don't need to chose between just those two bows though :chuckle:

only experience I have is about a dozen shots in the archery shop.

You might just want to check out the charger, it shoots really good, better than it's price tag would suggest.

I dont upgrade very often and I don't expect this one to be any different (as evidenced by the fact I'm still shooting a Q2 :))

Isn't the Carbon Matrix 1" longer than your Q2?

And being Hybrid cam it should feel like 2" longer at full draw over the single cam.

Perhaps you are getting your Matrix and Element mixed up :dunno:

No, I was referring to the Charger which is 31" ATA. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, the Matrix is 35"ATA vs. the 34"ATA Q2. And yes, I could see the difference in cams.

Agreed that there was a bit of shock in the hand, but it's actually seemed to go away after a couple sessions (either that or I got used to it).

I converted from Mathews and based on the way the Matrix has been shooting won't be going back for a while. :twocents:
