Placed my order today for my Hoyt carbon spyder turbo :) went with the all black riser, 80lb limbs and 29" draw. Should be pushing my 440gr arrows around 310fps. So pumped and can't wait to get my hands on it and report back with more details
-
Nice looking right there!

That should put a spring in your step, no thick wallet to drag you down now
(nevermind me, I'm a tad jealous is all :chuckle: )

:chuckle: You'd think for that much money they could take some of the kinks out of it!
Nice going with the black riser

Lol I knew D Rock and Radsav would have conflicting comments. They must have removed the "kinks" from the one I tested, I couldn't believe it wasn't butter

I shot the Carbon Spyder 34 and was very impressed with it. Congrats on your purchase!

Oh NO! Even my best field tester is now brainwashed by that logo :chuckle:
xXLojackXx... I'm happy to see your excitement in finding a bow you like. I was sincere about liking your decision to get the black riser. My favorite bows all have black risers these days! Also sincere about hoping to see some great success pics this coming fall. I hope it is exactly what you are looking for!

Thanks Rad. I'm just hoping this new bow will make 185 yard shots on 400" bulls for me with my eyes closed :chuckle:

Did you buy from Bob's? I talked with a guy there a few years ago who said he has killed six P&Y bulls all with shots over 160 yards. I asked, "What rangefinder do you use?" He told me he doesn't use a rangefinder. Says he doesn't need one cause it's all about the relationship between the bow and the ground! ;) I just responded with, "Wow! That's fantastic!" and walked away  Sounds like maybe he was your salesman on that ugly 185 yard big bull killer :chuckle:
-
Sounds like you and I went to the same finishing school, Rad. It's where we were taught to say "fantastic" instead of "BS!"
-
No I ordered from the Bow Rack in Oregon. It was either them or Spokane valley (they're the same distance driving) so I decided on the Bow Rack to save the tax. Plus I've had good luck with them before.
-
I shot that one the other day they are sweet...i ended up coming home with a spyder 30 instead couldn't justify the extra money for carbon
-
Don't ware your wedding ring when you shoot it scratch's the crap out it.Great bow congrats

I dont think he has ordered a new bow yet. And he was leaning towards the Bowtech Carbon Knight last i heard.
-
Wifey must have him pretty whipped because anytime before he would always spend the big money lol. Still a nice bow tho
-
I bought the Hype and just sold the bow. My Helim was lighter on the hunting set up and just as fast and a smoother pull. This is just me. :yike: Sold 2014 Hoyt Carbon Spyder Turbo #3 cams Z5 28/72.7 maxed out. Black and Carbon.

After 5 agonizing weeks, my bow has arrived  will post some pics tomorrow with a report

-
Well here she is. Carbon Spyder Turbo 29" draw @ 84 lbs getting 305 fps. It's set up with a QAD HDX rest, Tight Spot quiver, Hogg Father single pin .010" red, Hot Rodz Western Hunter stab, and Winners choice red/white string and blue/white cable. It's a dream to shoot and a HAMMER! Getting 92-93 ft/lbs of KE. Now for some pics of the bow. Can't wait to stick some animals this year
-
Sweet set up you have there
-
What arrow wieght are you shooting? Ive shot a few turbo spyders and didnt care for them but they shoot pretty well.
-
All those hippo's and rhinoceros better beware! There's a Carbon Spyder looking for a meal.

84 lbs.... You will love that power
-
I need a 80# bow.
-
I need a 80# bow.
Be good for Texas heart shots on elk eh?
-
I need a 80# bow.
I was shooting 72 before and jumped up to 80. This bow just happens to max out at 84.12 lbs. The draw cycle is nice and the let off feels easier than my Mathews at 72lbs. I shoot this bow better at 84 than my Z7 at 72.
From 20-50 yards my arrow drops about 6".

My current arrows are 445gr.

I don't know about that I've never tried it.
-
Just a joke D
It would be impressive to see an animal struck with a 440 grain arrow at 300 FPS :yike:
It wouldn't be from my bow but that is pretty cool
-
My dad has gave it a go on an elk it works but not recommended.
-
I bet it's pretty nasty cleaning that carcass out :puke:
Elk are stinky enough as it is
-
Last time I looked (I COULD BE WRONG)
6 Grains X 84 lbs = 504 grains. Therefore, your arrow has to be 504 grains or more to be legal arrow weight in Washington.
If I am wrong someone will post it up.
That is why I jump to 72 lbs because of that rule.
-
If you get a chance shoot an Easton ACC out of that bow at 84 lbs. I bet you will be swinging hard at 320 - 325 FPS.
That 6" drop will be at 3"
-
I shoot this bow better at 84 than my Z7 at 72.
One of the reasons I would give up bowhunting if I was forced to shoot a Z7. I'd keep bowhunting if forced to use a twisted car wreck with hubcaps though. But, my 84# days are long, long gone! With todays performance bows I've actually been thinking of dropping down to 55#. Just like my target bows.

I agree with you on the Z7.

I wasn't there for that part of it thankfully. It was a follow up shot and not the first arrow in the animal.

Went to kenmore this afternoon for 3 hours and shot about 100 arrows. Here's an 80 yard group with the bow
