Looking into getting a new rangefinder for my archery gear, and am curious which ones you prefer to use. There seems to be many "archery" rangefinders to choose from. Just looking for a unit with consistent accurate readings and a good display that's easily readable.
-
Don't forget good battery life
-
If you rifle hunt at all don't buy a archery rangefinder. Some limit you to distance that they can range.
-
I ended up getting the bushnell gforce. Its fast and a red display helps in low light. I looked at a lot of brands and models and always came back to it

I don't rifle hunt. I've never had a rangefinder due to just guessing yardage for bow hunting. Time to get a little more precise.
-
I would still get a range finder the the GForce or something equivalent. It will have everything an archery rangefinder with have plus more.

Ya that. I made that mistake buying the Leupold. States it will range out to 600. Ya right maybe if there was a reflective piece of foil used to range off of. I am lucky to get above 300 yds if there is a granite slab in the field. Mostly less than 225 yds. under normal field circumstances. Man it still pisses me off.
I even sent it back to Leupold thinking something was wrong with it, nope nothing wrong with it.

I have the Leupold RX 1000 TBR. It has a red led locator, good battery life. Affordable and I have ranged deer out to 800 yds. It has always worked great. I also have a Leica Geovid I carry as bino's depends on your budget. They are both well worth the money.

Most all range finders are labeled as what they can read for distance on a reflective target. ;)
I have the 750 TBR. It ranges to 750 on reflective targets. Everything else is variable.

I have a nikon rifle hunter 550 easy to use and read and works great

I've had Nikon, Leica and Leupold, below is my experience with each:
1. The Nikon Archers Choice was fine unless there was any rain or slight amount of fog, by far the most sensitive to adverse conditions.
2. The Leica CRF1000 was the best I owned, it unfortunately got stolen when a slime bucket robbed my house and took my backpack. :(
3. I now own the Leupold RX1000, it works great, it's not as bright as my Leica but a couple hundred bucks cheaper.

I ended up getting the Vortex Ranger 1000. We'll see how it holds up!
-
Vortex 1000 would be my first choice. Cant beat the lifetime unconditional warranty, the red illuminated targeting cross, and the ruggedness of it in general.

What are the farthest yards are you regularly experiencing in the field with that Leupold coonhound?

I have a leica and I can range much past the rated 800 yards on a regular basis at trees.
th only other RF I would buy right now would be the leica 1600 or the G7.

My next one will be the Leica....right now I have a leupold rx II and it works great.

I had no problem ranging out to 500 - 600 yds and often more.
-
The Leica 1600 would have been my choice but I hung up my rifles and strictly bow hunting now. Figured I don't need 1600 yards and a $800 rangefinder
