There was about 8 inches of snow at Watt Canyon this weekend. The elk feeders said there are somewhere around 550 to 650 elk at the feeding station today and more coming every day. Contrary to popular belief among those of us who hunt this area, there really are some elk left! There are some dandy bulls in the group too.

See any Wolf out there? :o
:hunter:

Any lucky spikes make it through the year?
-
Oh, but they do feed less elk then a few years back.
-
Can't wait to take the kids and pick up those sheds
-
so there is 650 elk there and 750 in the other feeding station? Where do the other 5000 winter? Just a question
-
I can't tell you its a secret.
-
In the woods over that one ridge :chuckle:
-
With a winter like this they could winter wherever they want. I'm sure that there are elk that never step foot in those feed stations.
-
:yeah: lot of areas with wintering elk aside from the welfare elk.
-
There are no spikes in wa state.
-
There are a lot wintering around the windmills too. The grass is still above the snow everywhere so they don't really need the feed.
-
That's cool
We stopped by Oak Creek feed station sat afternoon and only seen about 200 at the most hanging around. They weren't feeding them yet and there wes not one single bull in the buch. Spotted every head I can see from the parking lot and didn't see one set of antlers .

They stay away from the muckleshoots. A lot over here winter in the 346, 352, and 364. I have seen a herd winter west of bumping lake before.
