Thats nothing. I have put upward of 100 miles on mine investigating cougar kills and territories. I know where four different cats are at but its about right place right time. Three of those cats are in closed gmu's :bash:

Thanks  :chuckle:

I would be a fool to put on 100 miles when I already know the specific small areas that 3 mature cats are living  :dunno:

Most of my time has been spent calling and watching kill areas.

and to you guys hunting them on foot! I honestly think your chances of killing one is twice as likely as killing a wolf! that's how hard wolves are!

A couple weekends ago when we had some overnight powder. I woke up saturday morning, put my snow camo on and went for a drive. First gravel road I drove down I found a real fresh set of bobcat tracks 1/2 mile in. I drive another 1/2 mile and come across a somewhat fresh set of small cougar tracks. I followed it for a ways then set up the fox pro. I didnt call anything in that I know of. By the time I was at the truck, the snow was almost gone. It was disappearing fast so I went up the mountain for another drive. 3 miles on the high road and I came across a decently fresh set of large cougar tracks. Real large. I measured by using my hand and figure it was a 36-38" stride and the prints were pretty dang big. There was hardly any snow off the road so I couldn't follow the tracks very far. Its path was angling downhill so I walked down and set my foxpro down at a creek bottom and sat against a tree uphill. Never saw anything. It was my first time specifically looking for cats, so I was extemely surprised to find three sets of cat, only two sets of coyote and ONE deer. Tell me we dont have a predator problem :bash:
