Finally was able to get my grandpa's last deer shoulder mounted. For some reason after he shot this buck he gave up hunting all together. Anyways buck was shot in curlew. Tag that was on the rack was from 1964. Somehow miss placed the tag while moving unfortunately. Anyways enjoy.

I really wish I would of been able to share a camp with him before he gave up hunting. He sure shot some awesome bucks. Thanks for the compliments though guys.

That is a cool mount. I'm wondering if he brought it down to Sam's Castle (A Republic tavern), my dad has told me stories of some of the gnarly whitetails that came in for guys to brag about. My dad started hunting the area in the late 50's and did so until I went into the service. I'm going to show him this and see if it jags his memory from back then. He is 87 now and took me on my first deer hunt in 1966 or 67 at Swan Lake south of town.

I have the antlers each of my grandpas' last bucks. One set still has the old metal tag on it from somewhere between 1940-1950 (I'd have to go check for sure). He also quit hunting early on. My other grandpa hunted pretty much up until he passed about 4 years ago. I lost both grandpas in the last couple years. The one thing I asked for from each were these sets of antlers. Pretty awesome you got those remounted. I thought about doing the same. Great buck!
