Post by: 7t9cobra on February 23, 2014, 05:25:36 PM
Ive been in the hills every chance I can get looking for a cougar. I have yet to call one in but here are some tracks I've come across.

Nice! Whats the story there? You have a permit to kill it or did you have to leave it?

Tracks in the 3rd pick look like a decent one . Any lion without dogs is a good one tho

That is the cat I was tracking a couple weeks ago. The stride measured 36-38". I'll edit and label them since theyre out of order. Cat number 2 was scratching at the ground and I found a hair as seen. Im not sure if it was a small cougar or large bobcat.
Edit: cant label them, so pic1 is cat 3,  2&3 are cat1. 4-8 are cat 2.

wish I'd have seen this today

didn't cut any fresh tracks, but I bet there's a bunch in the morning.  Nothing moving today,  snowing pretty good though.
I busted out quite a few miles on a snowmobile,  hopefully I'll cut that again in the AM see if anything crossed it.

I wish we were getting snow lower. Ive only driven three roads with snow since looking for cats and ive found them on all three. Only one was more than 1/2 mile once hitting snow and it was only three miles in. Im in a good area for sure. Keep us updated if you find anything
