Title: Lil' Bones adventure with Boneaddict
Post by: Lil Bone on November 18, 2008, 04:20:24 PM
It started out with a  three hour drive to Twisp, but it didn't take as long as expected because Boneaddict(dad) made it go fast.  We started out the day looking for a huge buck that a friend on here told us about.  We didn't find him but we found 4 others plus a bunch of does.  Dad showed me where some of my great great grandparents homesteaded.  We then travelled elsewhere and saw more bucks including a giant I got to look at through the spotting scope.  Dad says he was a record book buck.   I especially enjoyed looking through my binoculars all day.  We saw ALOT of deer, including a WHOLE bunch right at dark up by Big Twin Lake.
We went out again this morning so dad could get better pics of the big buck but we didn't see him.  Instead we found another one with a wide spread.  I got to watch him a long time while Dad tried to stalk closer.  We saw only about 10 bucks today before we had to head home.  It was another beautiful morning out in the woods. We saw some bighorn sheep on our way home and we got to take pictures of them as well. Pics to follow as soon as I get a chance.
Thanks,
Lil' Bone

Oh sure, admit to the world that I contributed to your delinquence by taking you out of school or play hookie in order to look for big bucks.  :)

Sounds like fun guys...good for you.  ;()

That's ok - school should never interfere with a child's education!  My 9 year old and I love to do the exact same thing!

:chuckle:   Mom had her conference today (only missed out on half days) and she/the teacher wants a full report with pics for tomorrow for the class.  I thought you guys were tough demanding pics. LOL

I think we need to see the report too!  :chuckle:

Its great you take your kid out of school Bone.

In 95' with the record humpy run in the Skagit my dad didn't let us kids go to school half of the time.  :IBCOOL:

And my worst heartbreak in high school wasn't a gf it was my dad saying i would be missing the late season because of bad grades.

My kids loved it when I would wake them up early on a school day and tell them we was playing hookie! I think it helps them alot more than hurts. I would tell the box the night before I was calling in well, He would ask what lake and I'd tell him, He would be there with his 2 girls! LOL :chuckle:

Can't wait to see the pics..... the WA schools 10 days missed and you land in court makes it tough these days.

Hubby did yank our son for spring turkey last season...it was his first time licensed and all he wanted was to hunt Turkey.  Too bad the turkey they saw were all in peoples yards, he came home with ticks and that was about it

Not too worried about it Runamuk.  Considering she is in the top %1 in her class in the nation and is in a whole bunch o f advanced classes, and she actually does know how to type mainly because of the research projects she is doing/has done, I'd almost like to go to court and brag. LOL  I am not sure she wants me to put any of my pics in or if she wants her own in here.  This is one of the bucks we saw this morning that was so far away she didn't get a pic, I'll post this one and she can let me know about the rest..... :)

Right On! That is the best thing you could do to reward a young man for anything. The old man used to take me out several times a year to hunt and fish and those are some of my best memories in the field.

Who actually remembers any days in class from 3rd grade?

BUT

I bet we all remember when dad and/or mom busted us out of school to go hunting or fishing.

I thought this was pretty.  Dad said that he always jumps deer right here and we did, two of them.  Two small bucks one morning and two does another morning.  Dad said he jumped a 35 inch buck right here once, one of the biggest in his life.  He told me how he went and got gramps and hauled him back up here to see it so someone would believe him.

We did see this one.  Dad got some real good shots of him with his big lens.  I took them to school to show my teacher.  We got to watch him a long time with the sun shining on him.  It was cool.  He had frost on his antlers it was so cold.  Dad lost his favorite hat while we were watching him.  He was knelling on it and then forgot it. Lil bone, Thanks for posting you story, sounds like you had a great time. There is nothing quite as fun as hunting with dad. Your story takes me back to when I got to go hunting with my dad as a young guy and those were the best days of my life. I hope you get many many more days in the woods with your dad. good luck!

Dad took a shortcut where he said we would see LOTS of deer.  He was right.  This one was right along the road.  He was so close.  It was real dark for my camera but Dad said this one turned out good

The day progressed and the bucks kept getting BIGGER.
I spotted a HUGE buck.  walking basically between two hunters but below them.  Lilly was having trouble seeing him with the binos, so I dug out the spotting scope.  NO ATTACHMENT for the tripod.  I dug in the camera case and got one.  Then NO TRIPOD to fit that attachement. :bash:  Dug through the camera case and found the right one.  Got it set up at Lillys level.  Looked for a second to confirm HOW BIG he was...then went to set u :bash: the camera.  Had to add the extender as it was Miles away by now.  Got set up just before he followed the doe over the hill.  She was in a hurry.  Sooooooo SORRY for the poor pics of this big buck.  He had tines to die for.

We went back the next day to look for him.  It was a decision I decided to make.  It was off to the Entiat or go after a know buck.  Then this guy appeared and we got to see a much smaller but nice buck.  My discalimer is that most of these pics would not have even been possible.  Whether it was enar dark as in this latter case, or a mile away....

After this we went elsewhere and saw the buck featured in the post Bones Bucks II.  He was a dandy in my book.  This little guy was right next to him.....
I am also going to start a thread with some more sheep pics in it.

Your doing very well young lady....  And you too Bone for doing the super cool stuff with her and passing a great tradition on....... Hat's off

I might have to become an orphan for a about a hunting season and see if Bone will adopt me and show me these really cool places...  What do you think Bone ready to adopt a 40 + year old.... That can share in the driving duties? :chuckle:

I am pretty positive that can occur.. anytime......  Especially, after I spend some more time with a bud from Portland, that basically lives eats and breaths Sturegon.  He is like Obe-one Kanobe for me in that world...... :P
