Got him 10/28/13. Finally got one to add to the family trophy books! The last pic is my uncle and me. He killed that 25yrs ago on the same hill. I was 9 and along for that ride. Family tradition is what its all about...and a little luck ;)

Holy Crap Chipmunk!! That thing is a TOAD. What did his tail look like?
-
Nice deer what did it weigh?
-
Now there's a magnum! Both of them.

Chipmunk: I figured that question would come up. Short and black!? Here's the best pic I got of his tail where he took his final nap
-
:yike: unbelievable buck dude!
-
Sorry Chipmunk, I had to ask :). There is a huge diff. between the coastal and cascadt BT's. That pic does it for me, that is one hell of a cascade BT. You're the man
-
I'd love to hear a score on that guy........and yes, I'm sure some will argue, but he's definitely book worthy.
-
I would guess high 150 ish.. but what the heck do i know. This buck might be a good candidate for "Guess the Score"
-
Congratulations, Chipmunk. I can see the genetics (both the bucks and the uncle/nephew). Yes, family tradition IS what this is all about.
-
Damn nice Buck!
-
MASHER!!! Stud buck
-
Nice deer what did it weigh?
I got about 85 lbs of meat from him. From what I've read you harvest about 40% of a deers actual weight. So around 210+ lbs???
-
Great Buck!!!!!

Chip:
Where did you conk that buck? I see what appears to be a developed hiking trail in the background of that top image.
Also: Rifle, Model, ammunition, bullet weight, distance of shot.... details, details, details!!! Oh, and where's your hunter orange? Always a good idea to have that in the image.
I sure hope you sent a photo over to Northwest Sportsman magazine.

:chuckle: I dont think your going to get many details
-
I'm speechless! Awesome buck!
-
damn what a buck, the genetics and simularities between those two bucks are awesome, congrats on an absolute stud of a buck, who is your taxi? if you need one, pm me, i know a taxi that knows blackies inside and out and does the most amazing deer heads

Not giving all details...Browning .270, couple miles in 3500 ft,40 yd shot. No orange for pictures. Rained like hell the day before, didn't see any bucks but saw some dandy rubs. My buddy convinced me to go back up the next morning and by luck it turned out to be a beautiful day. The Wind was swirling from all directions that day which I think disguised my position. About 920 am I heard a blow and then watched this bruiser crash through the timber chasing a doe from right to left facing uphill about 60 yds. Thought to myself I'll probably never see that animal again. Then for whatever reason the doe changed direction and brought the buck back towards me. Doe passed and then then as soon as the buck got in sight I blew at him and he stopped dead in his tracks behind a tree He took 2 more fatal steps out and I shot him. He didn't flinch or nothing. The way he continued to walk like a zombie had me thinking I'd missed. Found him a 100 yds or so away.
-
Sure is a dandy buck.
-
Couple of stud bucks there! Put a tape to them both and see who has bragging rights at the camp fire. (I think gramps might)
Nah... On second look, yours has more mass and maybe length. His has more spread though. I haven't seen a true Blacktail that big in a long time. Very well done...

One hell of a buck and congratulations on keeping the family tradition going! Hopefully you can keep that kind of luck going. Did you happen to have your buck scored this year at the sportsman show in Portland? I saw a buck there that looked a lot like yours that was also killed this year.

:tup:Nice Buck!! Must had been a hell of a drag.
-
Hey CNELK, do you have personalized plates with CN ELK on them. I saw a rig with those plates years ago. :hello:
-
Did you have him scored? Gotta love the big boys going dumb over tail, it has nailed me a few a couple bucks in the past.
I have not got him scored yet. Won't have it back til July... I would though like to get it scored and if anyone has a contact please let me know. I also have the lower jaw and would like to figure out the age.

The pic with it in the bucket leads me to believe he might not want a shoulder mount.

i noticed that, i dont get why he whacked it off at the neck, i would have had to have a head mount of that buck, you dont get many blacktails like that
-
Wow that's a hell of a nice buck!! Congrats!
-
Definetel a stud blacktail

Dream buck right there! Way to go!
-
Again one of the nicest blacktail you'll ever see. but is it my imagination or does he have that tame look to him? :)
-
That is a beautiful buck!
-
thats one nice buck man
-
Those are awesome blackies!
-
my 2013 blacktail taken in silver creek, wa. Now is it me, or do some of these fine looking bucks here look a lot like muleys? just saying but fine bucks non the less ladies and gents.
-
once again, I certainly agree! Just noticing the look and all the different looks of blacktail deer here in washington.
-
for you who think those are hybrids, i have seen a few bucks that look just like that come out of the olmpics, its rugged gnarley huntn and the bucks are not only super heavy bodied but pack awesome headgear like that, the thing of it is, its depressing huntn, you dont see alot of anything except chipmunks and squirels, you go days up in that high country without seeing a deer and the fog is about as bad as it can get, they arew the true testiment to the GRAY GHOST up in some of those hills, along with a couple of honest to god hillbillies that truly live off the grid.....
-
Sweet buck! Congrats!
