Here are some bucks we harvested from NE WA and Idaho.
-
Another photo of the 4 point. It was about 5 yo and weighed 147#s at the butchers so maybe 250 on the hoof. We had 5 tags and harvested 5 bucks - 2x3, two 4 pts, and two 5 pts. It turned out to be my best year with my Father.
-
real nice couple of bucks there, palmer.

Dad and I managed to come home with two good whitetails despite horrible conditions. Each were taken by beating the brush at less than fifty yards.

:yike: :bdid: slip trip shoot from the hip and kill a three point!??
-
well I was after a large 4 point at the time and I thought it was him since he was running at 400 yards. He stopped and I dumped him. Walked up and said oh *censored*. More a mistake than accident i guess. Live and learn. That is what you get for getting all johny excited
-
huh *censored*ty.......I know someone who once shot a 2x3 thinking it was the 4 point he had been watching :chuckle:
-
Could have been worse I suppose

Me and the old man's '08 blacktails. I shouldn't have agreed to set my buck next to his. :P My dad has been battling cancer since last spring and wasn't doing too well this season, but he shot his biggest blacktail in 46 years of hunting 'em. It was the best medicine you could have given him.

Have any finished pic's?

thanks Dman, he is a real special blacktail i new it when i saw him. he is the end result of six plus months of scouting, first time i saw him was in Aug. cant wait till the 15th when i got the money to get him on the wall
-
well I was after a large 4 point at the time and I thought it was him since he was running at 400 yards. He stopped and I dumped him
That happened to me in '91 up in Colville. Was watching two bucks on a powerline at 300 yards at first light. Big one on the left, little one on the right. Dialed the scope down to 3X to shoot and I guess they switched places... When I walked up to him I thought "man, that's a lot of ground shrinkage", then I looked up and the other deer was staring at me 50 yards back in the timber... Oh, well, the "little" one was still a nice 5X6 (counting eyegards).
Here's my 9 year old with his first buck, and my Blue Mountain mulie, both from this year.
-
Nice pic and deer

Nice montana buck, was that from a draw or over the counter?
-
Ok, that's the one you were talking about on the "Tape is Cruel" thread. I would have probably scored him 170-180 on the hoof too. GREAT deer. Hope you're not disappointed he didn't hit 180" :chuckle:
-
Who really cares about score anyway.....I would love to shoot a buck like this every year....

-
Heres my little washington buck and my biggest to date Montana buck...
Awesome mulie hogsniper......shows the country too. Well done.
-
OK, that is the final straw. I am going to start putting in for MT. :bash:
-
yea then find some private land to hunt
-
From what I hear, it will take 4 to 5 years to get drawn for deer in MT anyway. By that time I might be able to find some land to hunt on...
-
not sure about the 4 or 5 year gig as it depends on how lucky you are. Some guys draw every year, and if you know someone that has land then go with the landowner sponsored one but then you must only hunt on their property. That will up your odds.
-
Hmmm... good to know. Thanks for the advice. I am going to try an antelope hunt there this fall (if I can get drawn-better odds than deer, I hear). If I can get permission for antelope somewhere, and I don't put a bullet through the guy's barn, maybe I can talk him into deer hunting another year...
-
I've had very good luck getting drawn for Montana the last few years. If I didn't get drawn I applied on the alts. list and got my tags that way. Being drawn from the alts list worked out better for me as I didn't lose my points and I received my buck tag :IBCOOL:.
Also you don't need to hunt private land to bag a nice buck. My Buck was taken on BLM, also there is alot of block management areas in Mont.
-
Hmmmm... more good to know. ...You guys work for the Montana Department of Tourism? 'Cause I'm about sold.. :chuckle:
-
I lightened it up a little for you jeffrey vegas. Nice heavy Buck!!!
-
My buck killed November 11th.
-
it was a good year for my family. my wife and son both started hunting this season. my son shot a whitetail with a massive body but a small rack and my wife shot a nice little whitetail. i shot a buck with 4 horns, i posted it on here last week.{ and i shot 2 bear but that is another story. }the best part of this season was sharing hnting with my family. they have always been outdoors with me and have seen me shoot stuff but to get them into it was great. they are both very excited for next year.
-
Congrats Dad! No feeling in the world like seeing the youngsters take their first. Man, that thing does have a body like a hefer, doesn't it?
