Title: Jet Pro car wash DAMAGE
Post by: NOCK NOCK on March 03, 2014, 11:56:15 AM
If you live in the Wenatchee area and utilize Jet Pro car wash, This is what their equipment did to my truck.

On 2-27 I took my truck thru Jet Pro's car wash for the first time ever(and the last). Within 2 minutes of leaving their car wash I noticed several sets of scratches on the hood. I immediately went back and talked with the manager on duty. He refunded the $13.50 price, and had me fill out a claim form and sent me to Cascade Auto Body to see if the scratches would buff out. (They did not)
Today I got a call from the owner John. His first words to me "I have some bad news for you, My car wash did not cause the scratches on your truck" (Nice claim for a person that has not even seen the scratches.
Very unprofessional attitude. The owner was not willing to do anything else.

Anybody else get scratches from Jet Pro, I would like to hear your story.

Just want to let you all know what could happen to your vehicle

Get a price for a repaint and sue them in small claims.  See if that changes their attitude.

Turn it into your insurance and have them go after Jet Pro. Don't do anything until you get results. You don't want your insurance to go up for something you didn't cause. Also, do you have a current picture of your truck before the incident ?

Politely call them back and remind them about Yelp, Google Maps, etc where you can destroy their reputation in a few minutes.

I only went there because I hit the aftermath of a skunk. Just wanted the bottom of my truck sprayed off. The first time I've ever been to a drive through car wash.
Buffing helped a little bit but the scratches are still visible. It's just sad that a business can do this and not care. I will continue to pursue it through my avenues legal and other. Just wanted to warn people what could happen to their vehicle

Be cautious as you taking the refund can amount to a settlement.  I would have refused the refund, kept the receipt and taken him to small claims court.

My father took his Yukon Denali through the same car wash a couple years ago. When he came out the other side his driverside mirror was broken. He contacted the owner and was told that his car wash did not break it and the owner suggested it was on the verge of breaking before he went through the wash. If I remember correctly, the owner purchased another mirror through a junk yard and paid to have it installed. The mirror vibrates badly but at least my father didnt have to pay for it.  It was quite the headache dealing with this guy.

Run it through there again with the owner there if you're sure the wash did the damage the first time and see how it turns out. :dunno:

Yea, I am guessing thats what did it. There is a definite pattern to the scratches on both sides of the hood.

I realize this probably doesn't happen to most rigs, but it did happen there. Not taking responsibility for damage done by your business is a good way to send your business down the drain.

I manage a car wash. Touch less. There are people all the time trying to blame the car wash for their problems. Not saying you. Just saying lots of people try to blame a touch less wash for everything from leaving the window down to hitting the bollards on the way in.
Car wash guys have very thick skins. And the first thing they learn deny, deny.

But one reason I never go to a brush wash. If it is touching your rig it is doing damage period. Most of the brushes out there are not maintain and you get the scratches.

He has insurance so keep the pressure on. :twocents:

I have been through that carwash numerous times (for work as well) and haven't had any issues but have seen what they can do. I've seen swirl and scratch marks as well as damage to vehicle parts. The owner must have his story rehearsed because I've talked to other people who say he starts out the conversation stating that very same thing. They have a sign posted at the entrance stating they aren't responsible for aftermarket parts and such, but I don't think they have any verbage regarding scratches

Turn in a insurance claim and if you need help looking for what insurance company they are insured with send me a PM and I will look into it.  I could assist you in turning a claim into the insurance company as well if you like.  Just PM me it would be my pleasure.

And on another note these car washes like to post signs that they are not responsible for aftermarket parts and that could not be further from the truth.

Our carwash at the dealership can scratch vehicles, and yes, those look like brush scratches, however so does driving up a tight logging road. We end up sending a few vehicles a month to the body shop because of scratches, most always buff out, but sometimes they don't. Good luck and stick with it, he has insurance for this stuff, maybe a high deductible on his part but if your sure it scratched it up, stick with it. Good luck!!

I am 100% positive the scratches came from the car wash. I hand washed and dried the truck the day before.
I went to the car wash the next day only because on my way to work that morning I hit a skunk that somebody had exploded all over the road, just wanted to get the underside sprayed off.

Thanks for all the input. I am filing complaints with the BBB and Attorney General consumer protection. If that does not get the owners attention, He & I will have a date..........Small claims court :boxin:

Most car washes will have signs about after market items because they are often installed poorly or of low quality and can be damaged or ripped off real easy in a wash.
I have the same signs because in our case the wash uses laze rs to measure a car.  They often do not detect bike racks and such sticking out either end.

I worked at a Shell Station with a brush car wash as a second job, back in the 90s. We would clean side mirrors, body trim, antennas, spoilers, and vent visors out of that thing every night. Very few people even noticed the damage when they came out, and the ones that did we had to give them a claim form that they had to submit. I Never heard of anyone working through the red tape and prolonged process all the way to get refunded.
You could never get me to use another car wash that touches my vehicle.

Signs or no signs the car wash is responsible and as long as they have a general liability policy it will cover the physical damage caused to any damage to the vehicle aftermarket parts or not.
