Title: tear down and painting my insanity
Post by: demontang on March 05, 2014, 09:01:59 PM: So after my bad news I got im tearing my insanity cpxl down and painting it pearl white. The strings will be flo green. Im going to have the cams re done either white or purple and maybe send my limbs in to be dipped too.

Post by: RadSav on March 10, 2014, 03:42:54 AM: One of my best friends is fighting lung cancer right now. Just got the call he is going in for some aggressive treatment and is going to miss our planned turkey hunt. I figure I'm going to paint a pearl ribbon on my black riser and make sure I get a picture of it in my glory shots so I can send them to him in the hospital. Might even make a new string...24 stands - 20 white, 2 pink and 2 purple. Maybe 2 blue, 2 purple. I'll have to do a few tests to see what might make it look pearl in pictures.

This is similar to what I was thinking of doing for the ribbon;

Post by: RadSav on April 12, 2014, 09:58:13 PM: Wow! Even with those measurements you took we almost missed the whacker and center serving. I know all the servings were within 1/8" in length and location. Now that's going to bug me for months :chuckle: That's the reason I almost never make a string without the bow in hand. We can fix it if you want to. If you end up not putting on any speed buttons (I never do) we can reduce those end servings a couple inches real easy.

That's funny! I make repeated complaints to nearly every bow manufacturer when I get my yearly test bows. You would think if these strings are made to their specifications they would at least have the whacker servings in the right place. Yet very seldom do I find them positioned correctly. Hoyt is probably the most consistent with their serving locations, but even then I do get the occasional bow with 50% of the whacker off the suppressor. My favorite bows in Bear and Bowtech are getting better, though that is not saying much! Most shops will make that an easy fix, but few do it in a way that does not effect the peep rotation.
