Just to get those in the mood for the drawing lets revisit some successfull spring bear hunts. If you would like go ahead and include a pic and maybe even a link to a thread if you have one. Good luck guys and gals!

One thing I learned from last year was get out as quick as you can, start scouting and learning the areas. The bears may not be moving right away but the tag is no gimmie....get out and get scouting.
-
Really!!!! you don't have anything better to do than taunt us :chuckle:
-
Nope...not at the moment! There were some good bears taken last year and we need to get to sharing tips and info so we can see some more tags filled this year.

:yeah: :chuckle: Lets hope someone is constantly checking the backdoor and we will get an announcement of results soon... oh wait im already checking every half hour

No it's definitely not a gimme. Here is a link to my 14 page log from 2 years ago. I hunted hard, put in a lot of time and didn't kill a thing. It was fun though and a great learning experience.

Big black bear. Looks like it was a good shoulder mount candidate.
-
My first ever WA spring draw. Hopefully I won't have to wait so long to get the next permit.
-
Nice bear Rad, what did the skull aka pumpkin measure?
-
I have yet to measure it myself. I was guessing around 18. Michelle did the capping and I think she said it was shy of 18. He's an odd bear. Ears look like he should have a huge skull, left front shoulder had been shattered by a bullet years before, and he's older than dirt. But the skull was not anything near what I thought it would be when I pulled the trigger.
In that picture you can see a fold in his hair over that left shoulder. That's from the previous bullet wound. Didn't stop him from running like a bat out of a hot place. And might be the reason he stopped before going over the hill. I think he ran out of poop and had to take a breather :chuckle: Nice for me!!! As the Accubond from the 325 Kimber dropped him in his tracks.
Not that I really care the skull size ;) You can't tell in the pictures but he's salt and pepper (my first) with very nice hair. Not the biggest I've killed by far, but one of the few I plan on mounting full body.

He was short and stubby with about 4 inches of fat on his rear.

That bear in the picture is 15 years old?
-
Yep, his teeth were worn down to the gums. Just got the results from wdfw, and sure enough, 15.
-
Nice job. Some impressive bears in this thread.
-
I noticed in two of the picture foregrounds are tree's marked with blue stripes. I think therefor when new hunters ask me about where are good bear spots here on the east side, I will inform them that the state biologist have marked the good bear areas with blue tree markings, and of course forward them those pictures, should make for a good laugh...on my part.
-
:chuckle: yeah those blue marked trees are where I hang all my treestands. The best spots

Rad, the hide on that bear looks impeccable.

Even his rump is perfect! I've passed up a lot of spring bear in Canada because the rub marks were horrible. Who'd of thought I would need to wait a decade to draw Washington and find a black one is E. WA that nice. I really didn't expect that.
-
Who's check for results already today?
-
Me...only front door though. Dnry
-
Back door still closed

Look at the heed on him! It's like an orange on a toothpick!

Some fine looking spring bears. I can't wait to get drawn again. Hunting in the spring is awesome.
-
My spring bear a couple years ago. About an hour before I killed this boar I missed a tanker. :bash:
I had passed a lot of sows and this was a decent boar so I pulled the trigger.
Looking forward to hunting again this spring, my wife wants another off-color bear hide for the bear bedspread she is making, so I will probably take any size off-color or possibly another black boar.
-
Awsome Dale was my first choice 4 points. Got Lincoln get to do what I love. Sweet bears every one. Rick
-
The draw results are out, good luck to all. Mine, not selected.

Nice black Dale! Which unit did you draw? My 74-year-old father-in-law drew Huckleberry, so we might run into each other?
Hope you're having a great year so far!
