I just bought a Ruger American in 308 WIN. Very excited, I am a bird dog guy and only own scatter guns. So this is my first deer rifle. I want to wrap it in camo and seeing how I will do most my hunting east I was thinking about using MOSSY OAK GRAPHICS " BRUSH" Camo. Any thoughts? Also I put a 3-9X40 on the gun and will be sighting it in soon. Cant wait for opener.

Congrats on the purchase with that caliber you can hunt it all. Practice practice practice get good with your gun and learn your limits.also plan for a one shot one kill.as for the wrap I've never worried about what color the gun is as long as I can shoot straight .

Nice gun, you might consider having it dipped instead. http://www.northwesthydroprint.com (http://www.northwesthydroprint.com)

VERY NICE  and choose what ever pattern you like the best :chuckle: and good luck next season.

Congrats!
I've never felt the need to camo a modern rifle, so I can't help there.
I can tell you:
1. Practice way more than most. Know the rifle and it's ballistics inside out.
2. Know deer/elk anatomy (in a 3D kind of way) so that you can punch them through the vitals no matter the angle.

Great caliber and gun! I used to own a left handed Ruger M77 Mkii in 308 Winchester. Tack Driver out to 300 yards. I'm sure it had a much further accurate reach than that but I wasn't confident beyond that.

Our four legged friend don't see color like the birds you are use to. Camo on a deer rifle is not necessary. If its for fun do the camp u like best your gun does not have to match your clothes.

I own the same rifle and it is a great firearm for sure. I would not put any camo on it if it were me. :twocents: Like another poster said, spend the money on the optics.

get a good scope and good binos. I use my binos lots lots more than my gun or scope. mike w

If you were matching your gun to your clothes wouldn't you do your gun in hunter's orange? :dunno: :chuckle:

I put a 3x9 Leopold on it and am very very happy. The gun is very tight and shot like a dream. I sighted it in at 100 and was producing some incredible groupings. Im gonna be shooting as much as humanly possible this summer! I shoot at the Renton Fish And Game Club, anyone else shoot here? I shot trap here for years before I ever even considered a rifle and I really liked the rifle range.
