Title: Kentucky Flintlock's
Post by: Wea300mag on April 02, 2014, 08:12:44 PM
I recently purchased Kentucky flintlock kits for both a pistol and a rifle. These were originally bought from Western Auto (only the older generation will remember this store :chuckle:) many years ago. I decided to build the pistol first to iron out the process.

Before all the sanding/polishing/staining/oiling/bluing, I pre-fit the gun together. I'm really glad I did because it took a lot of drill and Dremel work to get everything to fit up correctly. The barrel was heat stained with a plum brown finish, all the brass was polished, and the stock was sanded down to 400 grit followed by staining and 5 layers of oil rub. It turned out very nice, here are some pics of the kit, pre-fit-up gun, and final product. Now its time to tackle the rifle.
