Title: BIG LINGS
Post by: Come Get Some on April 07, 2014, 08:07:17 AM: Our first trip out this spring was out of this world. First drop ,4 fisherman 2 hooks each rod, We brought up 4 lings and 1 halibut. 2 of the lings were over 30 on the same rod. That fishermans first time ling fishing. 3 drifts and we were limited for 7 guys. 14 lings from 25-40 lbs. Headed back in after 2 hours of fishing.

So I will finish this by saying. It was open for deep water lings, It was legal to use 2 hooks. We did release all of the halibut. ( 9 total) No adipose fins, we did use barbed hooks. Even the game warden was exited to check our jumbo lings.

Post by: sirmissalot on April 07, 2014, 09:49:02 AM: Nice, looks like a decent grade of fish I've been wanting to get out there, probably not till the opener though. 40lbs is a BIG ling anymore, not many can say they've caught one of those. Did you guys just do a deep water ling run or pick up some bass inshore as well?

Post by: Come Get Some on April 07, 2014, 08:20:03 PM: We also found 7 Japanese floats. We only went after deep water lings. No sea Bass. The wind started blowing 25 KNTS at about 10 am. We took it at 2 o clock on the bow all the way in. The boat did not care . The only problem we had was I could not see most of the time. The spray was going all the way over the boat.

I am taking charters. It was a charter last weekend. Pm me if interested. Only a few weekends left. There is talk of leaving it open on Friday during Halibut this year. We can only hope.

I gave them a proposal to re-do the ramp. My bid was 680,000. Their budget was 200K. they are putting a band aid on it instead. Better fix next year I hope. Back at it this weekend. Get em while we can.
