Hello i am new to this forum and this is my first post. I am new to bow fishing but the sport looks very fun. I am thinking of heading over to eastern WA potholes area this next week to do a little bowfishing and was wondering if it is worth making the trip this time of year or wait a while? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the site, you will get more info than you can imagine. Not a bow hunter so I'll let them sound off.

welcome.
I have no clue on bow fish timing....

I was at the potholes this last weekend shooting carp, nows a great time to head over and try your Luck. Lots of fish to shoot at if the weather is good.

Thanks for the input. Were you part of the tournament over there this past weekend? How'd everyone do?

Potholes is clear water. Fish are out but not shallow yet. And weather can be a pain like this last weekend. The shoot was a blast. 33 teams from around the Northwest. You can see the results on washingtonbowfishing.com. Numbers were better this year than last, but not the best we've ever had.
There's another shoot in Tri-Cities in May. It allows trailering. Big "10" format.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Welcome Ice. Most of the time I wait until the first part of May before getting serious. Partly because the water temp is still down and the fish are deep around here. When the water temp comes up and they move more into the shallows you will get more shooting in. Good luck to you and make sure you post up your pics
