I was wondering if anyone knew of an off-the-grid camp site in Skagit County where you basically just park your car at the bottom of the mountain and hike up to wherever you want to camp out at?

Huntingdog, you may want to re-title your thread to something more specific to get more traffic... Something like: Need Skagit County Hike Info! or something like that...

Off the grid "camping"? I thought real camping was off the grid by def? You've already got it figured out, just drive your rig up the road till you see a mountain you want to climb then park, hike and camp.

Try the Baker Lake area. 100s of spots to park at gates and head up hill. Several roads off the Baker Lake Hwy.
Also cross the lower dam and hike off the Anderson Creek road.
Upper South Skagit Hwy has sevral roads you can hike in on too. Be aware there still may be snow at the higher elevations.
One of my favorite spots is Jackman Creek Rd. just east of Concrete.

Alos be advised Spring Bear season is open in all these areas.
Take proper percautions.

Hey, if you are still out there...Try Mildred Lakes up in the Olympic National Forest. The hike is tough/steep (4- 8 Hrs off grid). The lake has tons of fish with berries on the trails depending on when you go. It is summer time so you might find more people there, but most of them are on a day trip. It is very hard hike / climb, trial is marked but not always clearly.
The best hike / camp out we ever had.
