In years past there have been more permits and applicants, my assumption is that this is due to the relatively high cost for a slim expansion of opportunity. I expect many folks who are drawn elect not to purchase for ~$130 (~$180 in the past). I really think they should offer this over the counter.
In either case, lets see a show of hands for those who didn't get drawn (few) or those who did get drawn but have no intent to purchase. I'm not holding it against anyone, I just think WDFW is being money hungry and stupid.
For the record, I did get drawn and do intend to purchase, but I'm canceling my cable tv at the same time to make it affordable/reasonable to purchase.
-
I only know of RADSAV.
-
I got drawn and am uncertain if ill buy it or not. It probably depends on if I get drawn for any of the late season permits I usually put in for.
If I don't get drawn ill probably buy it because I've been wanting to try archery and muzzleloader. I have pretty good setup for modern and haven't been able to bring myself to give a good opportunity to try something new. Plus I just got a bow a couple weeks ago.
-
Haven't meet anyone that has not been selected for deer. Did not get Elk again.
-
I didn't draw deer this year :dunno:
But I didn't apply :chuckle: what a waste of money
-
I will purchase my MS deer tag. Not selected for elk. I will appreciate the longer season as I usually don't fill my archery tag for one reason or another.. I won't hunt the muzzy season as I don't have a smoke pole.. Am I allowed to use my bow during the muzzy season?? That would be sweet if I could. More days for opportunity!!
-
You do know what this means, right?
The new price for the deer tag worked as planned, and they sold out of stock. Over-subscribed. More than 1,000 applications.
Everybody wins (even Pianoman, who got the elk tag consolation prize---and if he doesn't want it I will gladly take it).

You can use your bow in muzzy season and modern season. Just have to know when orange is required.

This is the 2nd one I've drawn and the first time I'm actually going to buy it. I moved to a new area of the state and at the present time have no scouted out spots to hunt deer near my home. I'll use the multi season tag to increase my time in the field and my chances at harvesting a nice mule deer.
-
got drawn for deer and will most likely buy so that i can practice bow hunting and have wanted to use my grand pa's old model 94 lever gun if i am not successful by the time modem season arrives.
-
Sweet. Thanks Snowpack!

Hi. My name is RadSav! Nice to meet you! ;) I was drawn for Multi-Elk :tung: But, I'm still WDFW's big loser - Multi-Deer = Not Drawn checked, double checked and just now triple checked. :chuckle:

That was a copy from the WDFW results page = Hunt number "1888"! Point Option is a different number I think. :dunno:
I'll give someone my elk permit if they take my mother-in-law too!
-
Im sure they just heard about you and know you dont really need one........ :chuckle:

I don't need a mother-in-law, but I do like the multi-deer tag ;) I figured S'tch came back to work for them and started up a new "Black" list!
-
If you truly enjoy hunting, nothing beats a multi-deer tag..........fun fun fun.

I would help you out there, Pardner, except I already have a MIL, and my wife would be really unhappy if I took yours in to live with us. Regrets.

Two squaws in your house how lucky, you should come home to your smoking jacket and slippers ready for donning along with your favorite beverage ready. Plus all daily chores complete.

I got drawn and am not gonna purchase.I drew the elk ms so gonna buy that instead.

C'mon...We all know you want it! ;) I think the Multi-Deer is my favorite thing I've drawn in this state. I'm very disappointed I can't do it again this year. It's been worth every penny the two times I've drawn it (And the wife's four times)!
-
I'll take the Elk tag and the mother in law too...my dish washer's broke!

She doesn't know how to do dishes, clean her room or take a shower! But she will try just about anything if you have enough cocaine. She might even do it for Methadone.
-
Haha...is she from the yakima area by chance :chuckle:
-
I'm shocked that you didn't draw. Is this some kind of April fools joke a little late?
-
hey Rad, I don't have cocaine, but ive got enough booze to kill half of Ireland and 2 spare rooms. will that get me a MS elk?
-
I was drawn for deer not elk :'( I'll get the tag this year since I just got a new bow, muzzleloader and rifle this year, good reason to practice with them. Now only if I had a tree stand.....
-
Radsav you can have mine. I will not purchase it I decided to give my money to oregon.

I don't often use my tree stands. They are usually just to practice out of. PM me if you need a loner. Although everyone should have at least one, just in case! ;)
I'd much prefer to loan a guy a treestand so he could afford a quality safety harness. I've been meeting way too many bowhunters in wheel chairs and/or halo braces. And they have been the lucky ones! All from accidents that could have been avoided with a good harness.
-
selected for Deer plan to purchase and i didn;t get selected for ELK
-
I'm sure I'll forget all about the MS deer tag while I'm in WI chasing those huge whitetails in the rut. Still going to be a fun year!
-
Thanks RadSav, if you were closer I may take you up on that. I believe it was last year or the year before agentleman fell out of a tree stand in my home town and passed away from his injuries. After that I swore I would get the best Harness available. Have any suggestions on a good one?

I'm rather partial to Hunters Safety Systems - Elite Harness. More because they are comfortable enough hunters actually wear them!! They are also rather quiet compared to most! The biggest key in harnesses IMO is getting one that is well suited to use with a Life Line. So many worry only about falling from the tree stand. However, last I checked with the TMA most injured hunters fell while getting "in" or "out" of their stands. A simple $20.00 Life-Line will take that worry away. A local rock climbing expert could tell you how to make one yourself for only a few bucks too! One other thing I might mention about that...DON'T GO CHEAP ON CARABINERS!
Good research site http://tmastands.com/index.html (http://tmastands.com/index.html)
Thanks RadSav, if you were closer I may take you up on that.
Lingcod - I can always ship one if you find yourself in a bind

It's my first year to buy the multi season how do I check if I won.

If you didn't get an email here is the link https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wa/specialhuntlookup

I heard that another member did not get drawn either. Herdbull33 chime in and inform us.
-
I sent an email to the WDFW just to make sure there wasn't a problem with my application. They sent back a very nice and very prompt response;
"Yes, Washington State did increase its application sales this year for the multi-season deer. You have gained the point to help in the drawing for next year. Upon review of your record, you did everything correct..."
-
Did they say how many applicants there were? You and Herdbull33 have to be the unluckiest people alive. :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
No. I was hoping they would, but no such luck. Had to of been at least 1768 more than last year. Guess I should have kept my mouth shut or told everyone what a waste of time and money that permit is :chuckle:
I've already spoken to at least a dozen people who say they were drawn and are not going to buy the permit. I'm finding it more and more difficult to smile and be nice :tung:

I'll buy mine if it makes you feel better

I have always been a proponent that if you apply and are draw, you are required to buy. Whether you choose to use it is up to you. I hate when a few people ruin opportunities for others. :bash:
-
There's no way they could require that someone buy it. What if that person doesn't have the money?

Doesn't Montana do a redraw after tags get returned? They could do something like that before the season starts. You would miss out on permits but could still hunt all the general seasons.
And let's be honest if you aren't lucky enough to draw the MS deer you probably weren't going to draw any quality tags anyways. ;) Just giving you a hard time Rad, no offense or harm intended.
I do think that over the counter sale of the unused tags should be an option on a first come first serve basis for the two guys in your situation.

If you don't have the money why are you applying for it?????????
And sure they can...they require you to pay a fortune for a general tag, why could they not require it. They can do what they want....and if someone chooses not to they can be banned from ever applying again as a punishment.
-
you say if someone doesn't buy it they should be banned.... what if they are military and get deployed or transfers early should they be banned? Just trying to figure out your train of though :bash:
-
Hopefully there will be a redraw for you RadSav after half the applicants don't purchase it. Stupid for the state no not want a guys $140 if he's willing to fork it out while 1000's of others that they've "chosen" don't want to fork it out. I know they've redrawn before in the multi season deer, but I'm not crossing my fingers they're smart enough to do it anymore.
-

Most states where I've applied for tags in the past require payment in full when you apply. Then if you are not drawn they refund all but a few dollars for processing fee.
-

There are exceptions to every rule. That is out of your control and you being moved / deployed so it would not apply. Another thing is you don't have to be banned forever....maybe three years?? I guess my point is this....If you are the person paying the $7 dollars just to screw the state out of $150 when you are drawn, then you should be punished with a fine, ban, mandatory purchase, etc. etc. etc.

1888 is definitely not the "Point Option" hunt number.

I think all the unsold should be sold first come-first serve after a deadline. The app should just give an option.

I finally for the first time was drawn for Multi-Elk! So I'm not crying too much. Even though I think I'd rather have the deer permit. Elk is not high on my favorite animal to hunt list even though I've tagged a bunch. I've got the late season upper WI whitetail hunt with Del. That should be a good time with an opportunity to shoot a monster whitetail.
Biggest draw for me is that I hunt with the wife. She usually comes first, but she also likes to take her time filling the tag. >:( So multi-season deer usually allows me some time for myself to hunt nice bucks as well as just guiding her. I've been watching a beast of a benchleg buck in some good bear territory. I was sort of saving him for myself ;) But, maybe I'll put the squaw on him this year and hunt bear at the same time :dunno: Lots of options in this state...no worries!
-
The WDFW knows a certain percentage of people will not purchase the multi season tags, and they took that into account when they decided how many people to draw. So it wouldn't make sense for them to try to sell the ones that don't get purchased.

That is what I understood as well.
Quite unbelievable they increased permit sales by so much this year. Guess all those email news releases are paying off.

Is that a fact, or are you just speaking out your arse again?

Hey Rad, check out your post #7 from last year on the "who didn't draw?" link. I think the game department heard you.

It all makes sense now.
-
It was funny reading through that old post and seeing so many of the same comments there as in this thread about if you draw and don't buy you should be banned the next year and if you don't even draw it should be guaranteed the next year.
The funniest comment in that link was that the WDFW does hate Rad, they just hate bears a little more.

First year I've put in for multi season deer and got it. I was wanting to try bow. always been a rifle Hunter so I was hesitant to swap over. Was curious does anyone know what the full price for the multi season deer, elk bear cougar combo is?
