Its time for some calamari, anyone else go for them?
-
Me and my girlfriend do. Should be time but I havent been out yet. Havent heard much either as far as good reports.
-
I am going off the seattle waterfront this week with my dad and kids. I will let you know how we do.
-
i went out the other night off of les davis pier in Tacoma saw a few caught by other jiggers but i was unfortunate. My uncle works down at the Point Defiance boat house and said that they have been getting a lot more in with the herring when the herring fisherman goes out, so it looks like it might start picking up.
-
Good news. I live by les Davis so its our dock of choice too. Havent been down yet. Too bad the tides are backwards...
-
Last time I went, my reel puked a part on the first drop into the salt.... >:( Had to go home...no inkys.....
Hey, let us know when you hear of any significant catch, maybe we could meet a bunch of members on the dock and crowd out all those unemployed game hogs... :chuckle:
PS, if you are one of those unemployed game hogs.....no offense intended....heh heh heh... :IBCOOL:
Note to self....bring two rods....
-
You really eat those, yuk!... I thought you might be getting them for bait, but your serious about getting to chow on?
-
:EAT: Yum! I wanna go but I've never gone before. Is it hard to get set up?
-
Hmmm. . . havn't decided yet if I would try this or not. had a freind who use to eat smoked squid. Yummy

Heck yah'! Steamed with some butter, garlic and white wine, very good. Heck, I kept eyeing the bait bucket on our sturgeon trip.... :EAT: Wait till the smelt come in, I will put you on a years worth of bait....plus a years worth of great breakfast; fried smelt n eggs with toast. Yum!
-
Yummy, love calamari
I've never gone but have always wanted too. Maybe we can get a trip together for some members and take over a pier ;)
-
That is exactly what I was thinking....
Ok, some member living near steilacom or Tacoma needs to keep up on the catch and give us all a heads up as to when we can raid one of those docks...
You can count me in, sounds really fun, mixing it up with a dock full of Hunt Wa guys and gals and squidding for hours!
-
that would be cool,Iwas going to do it yrs ago never did I have a couple of jigs, what else do ya need
-
Any rod and reel will do, something light duty, trout rod kind of thingy.... jigs, bucket.... some guys bring the generator and hang a light over the rail....
DFW's site on squidding....

I'm in ;) Lets set something up

Have not been out yet this year. Heard some reports last week that said it was too slow to go. I think I will get em in DEC. Good Luck
-
I talk to my uncle every day about fishing down there so i will keep an eye out when he starts to see a lot of squidders and starts to see some squid in the pins again we do really well off of the gas float as well at the point defiance boat house it is also a lot less crowded.
-
Ill start checking it every week. Les davis is a hop for me. Also, if it works out for an outing. I have the gen and 4 500 watt'rs. The dock does have power too. But it can get overloaded.
Also, we need a incoming in the dark. Thats a biggie for success in my book.
You havent lived till you had FRESH Calimari!!!
And once it gets good, if it does, I have another sleeper dock we may get to ourselves...

I'd be up for it if the catching is good.

If you've never been before, don't waste your time with the crappy plastic jigs that you find at big5 or walmart... go some place like sportco where they have the good lead ones. or check out squidjig.com... the bottom bouncers and tiny teasers work very well.
Anyone go around Bremerton? I'd like to try over there 'cause I've heard it can be good almost year 'round.

We're in Kitsap county and would like to go if you're looking for company, but we've never been and don't know the spots, so we don't have any info for you.
-
WOW what a response. Anyway, I think a bunch of us get together and do this. I usually go to Edmonds but usually crowded so up for something else.
I might be going to AK for the crab season fishing so ???????
-
For Kitsap county try Annapolis dock...Port Orchard.
-
i love squid fishing. it might seem boring but i got hooked on it. its easy and simple and just a hole heck of alot of fun.
-
I used to squid off the DesMoines Pier when I lived up there, but the best time was around Halloween. it got pretty slow this late in the year.
-
Anyone in the south sound / tacoma area on top of this?

When I used to go when I lived in Bremerton, we went right by the ferry dock. We always did well, but that was more than 10 years ago. we would also put a little gold hook with a red bead right above it and slay the herring.
-
Back to the top!Anyone in the south sound / tacoma area on top of this?
I used to go all the time Ice, still could be talked into it.
-
This would be a great way for alot of folks to meet up and shoot the crap as we get jiggy with it...

Its been really spotty. Not worth it to drag the gen and lights down yet. But those January tides do look good!!!
Ill do a fly by tonight on the dcoks but 3 days ago it still was suky...
-
Seattle and Desmoines are slow too so we need some different tides for sure. Its not just the area not producing.
