How many points and what hunting method?
9 points, Modern Firearm!
May switch to bow next year...
Good luck

Good luck, would love to hear you get selected after all the help you provide to your fellow hunting friends.
My brother and I have been applying for Rimrock Muzzle loader but are switching to Cowiche as Rimrock doesn't have a general season if only one of us draws. We are only going in with 6 points but hell ya never know and ya can't win if ya don't play.
Again best of luck. Hoping to hear good news from your end.
-
It Will Be My # 1, Or 2 With 11 Pts I Think? Can't Remember. Don't Keep Track Anymore :chuckle: Muzzy Or Modern. Have Not Decided Yet.
-
My points are low due to drawing in the last couple years but I'll be throwing my 2 Qbull points and 1 cow point in for the ML draws. Peaches/Taneum will be my #2 choices.
-
We have so many choices on the west side it's scary! I mean who doesn't want Toutle these days :dunno:
-
:yeah:
Almost feel like putting in for points for the next ten years just incase fish an game actually turns some of the units around.....what a pipe dream that is...
Good luck with peaches tho everyone
-
I've got almost max points and I still can't draw Toutle!
-
Or multi-Season deer :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
I might. My pard and I have'nt sat down to figure out what we want to do this year yet. If I do it will be for ML with 11 pts.
-
#1 peaches #2 goose prairie archery for me
-
RT - YOUR INBOX IS FULL!!
-
I'm thinking about trying to use my 10 points for a disabled muzzy tag there just haven't decided yet
-
Putting in with a buddy. We hunt Muzzy. Thought about having you help us out untill reading about your hunt last year. :dunno: :chuckle:
-
I will be putting in with 7 points for archery.
-
My dad will have 12 points in this years drawing. What to do what to do?
-
Almost put my 19 points in for little naches, but in the end I went with my past choices. Maby next year when I have 20 points!
-
If you want a quality hunt in peaches you better be ready to go to hell and back. you will have company in the easy access areas .
-
I will be putting in with my 9 points.
-
I think we are going to put in for Peaches Ridge archery this year, if we get drawn we are gonna hike back in there a ways and camp out for a week!
-
I'll be putting in this year with only 5 points.
-
I drew MS elk this year, but only have 3pts for Quality bull :bash:. Will be looking at other more likely draw options!
ET
-
Peaches yet again...10 pts. Its time for pay back, I ate that tag 11 years ago because I was chasing a big 7by around lookout, up and down cliffy and every where in between. Passed on alot of bulls cause I had my eye on the prize. :chuckle:
-
I've got 12 points. So, maybe. I've never hunted that area, only jeeped the Shoestring years ago......
I'd have to use my ATV to hunt it......
-
I will be putting in for Peaches Muzzleloader with 2 points...WOOOOHOOO! I am sure I will draw!
-
I drew it last year. Probably go ahead and draw it again this year!!! but I have not quite decided. :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:
-
I will be putting in for Peaches Muzzleloader with 2 points...WOOOOHOOO! I am sure I will draw!
I drew it with two points in can happen.
-
I've got 12 points. So, maybe. I've never hunted that area, only jeeped the Shoestring years ago......
I'd have to use my ATV to hunt it......
Which is illegal to do so unless you are on a motorized jeep trail. I wouldnt attempt to ride an atv on forest roads down here :twocents:.
You Sure? I believe ATVS are now legal on forest roads up there. As long as they have all the paperwork. Plus the best hunting around there has a designated ATV trail that runs for like 12 miles.
-

Draw it again Labs07, I know a guy who will help you out! Maybe this time we will have to actually use pack frames!! Ha ha
-
I'm in for muzzy with 10pts.
-
I'm in again this year with 6 points for rifle.

I was told by the WDFW Game Warden at Oak Creek a couple months ago that it's legal to ride on GREEN DOT roads like Oak Creek, true ?
If not, I'll use my disabled placard and shoot out of my truck....

If the roads are managed by the state, yes. Most of the oak creek drainage is managed by fore st service which means no riding unless it has a green dot.
10-4. No wonder I don't like the Forest Circus......... thanks..
-
Why would anyone put in for Peaches?:dunno: There are no bulls there!
-
Forget peaches ridge, bethel is were its at! :chuckle:
-
It's so damn checkered boarded up there between NF and state it's kinda ridiculous. Doesn't look like Okanagan NF has a problem with atv/utv's.

Okanogan is open to all ATV/UTV's if they are registered as being street legal, but, they also have riding even if you're ATV/UTV's aren't street legal. Trail wise, not road wise.

Ya are ranger district is messed up in Yakima.
-
Ya are ranger district is messed up in Yakima.
.....................got that right, as is ours.
-
I'm a strong maybe. 10 pts, usually do archery but undecided, maybe modern firearm.
-
15 points :yike: and I am ghost pointing this year due to my multi-elk in 7 years :yike:
-
Quality bull numbers are way down to many permits each year I would put in for somewhere else
-
14 points modern firearm

Call the front desk for yourself if you dont believe me. Or yso for that matter. It is illegal to ride them on roads and you WILL get a ticket if caught. No way around it.
Correct me if im wrong, but isn't Nachese Ranger dist part of the Wenatchee-Okanogan NF?
AND didn't the Wenatchee- Okanogan NF put out a notice that ATV's are legal to use on FS roads under 35mph as long as they are "Street Legal"?
-
I stopped and talked to numerous Atv riders during hunting season last year on the roads. Not one said they were stopped by the law. So im kinda lost. This needs to be solved.. Or I will be getting a ticket yet again. :chuckle:
-
I called Naches ranger district today to find out and she said nope, no atv/utv which doesn't make sense since it's we machete NF like Okanagan area
-
I was on the fence about Peaches with my multi-season tag finally giving me eastside chances. But, since I despise hunting crowded woods I decided to go blues instead. Probably a mistake since I have been in poor shape recently, but what the heck, I can't get drawn for a multi-season deer so what makes me think I can actually draw a good permit in the same year as the MSE. Dang pipe dream if you ask me.
-
Every year I have been in there with tag holders every year we see less bulls. When my son had the peaches muzzy about 6or7 years ago saw lots a bulls.in the taneum side. Hunted archery 2 years later on the little.naches side saw some bulls. Last year archery I was with a tag holder really slim in the little naches. Usually see or hear lots going on getting less bulls in there.

Just my thoughts here, the bulls and quality has been getting better every year. Steep and deep. An average bull, 5x5 or young 6x6 is fairly common. 350 plus is not a pipe dream. Not sure of why but it is awesome to see the quality of bulls in the past 3 years. There is some monsters, but they didnt get to be huge standing near roads. Scouting is key, miles and miles and most wont put that kind of effort into a hunt. The first branch antlered bull that steps out usually eats dirt.
From my knowledge the big boys have not had cows during peak rut over the past few years! Why I dont know. Big Nasty had cows but he was one of a few tgat had lady company.
I know of one bull that if he made it through the winter will give any blues bull a run for the money.
Rtspring.

I don't understand the, it's not the Forest service to blame" part, it's the county, part ?

I wouldn't put in for that tag! There are some real shady camps up there! :chuckle:

Going in on a group Archery Tag for Peaches and Goose Prairie!!! with 16 pts! Probably still wont draw....
-
16 pts :yike: how many people in your group?
-
Going in on a group Archery Tag for Peaches and Goose Prairie!!! with 16 pts! Probably still wont draw....
Wow! The average it took to draw for archery was 7 I believe.

Maybe so, but that average number they provide is misleading.
If you look at the data, you'll see that there were 60 applications that had 7 points for the Peaches Ridge archery permit. Of those 60, only 14 were selected.

60 with 7 points or more? Where can I find that data, that sounds interesting.

only 4 of us.

No, that's 60 applications that had 7 points.
The data is available on the WDFW website, on the special permit page.

you all have 16 points?

with sixteen points I would not put in for peaches
no way
-
With 16 points id be going to the blues.
-
But maybe they actually want to hunt this year. :dunno:
Put in for other units, that have less permits, and odds of drawing may not be good at all, even with 16 points, especially since they are applying as a group.
16 points isn't even a guarantee for Peaches. Last year there were 7 applications that had 10 points, and only 1 of those drew.

You probably would be going...I figure I'm just applying for the Blues ;) Should be a nice change of pace to see "Not Selected" for something other than Toutle :chuckle:

Rad put in for peaches and I'll help you get on a bull.

I know Peaches pretty well. Spent a lot of time in there bugling bulls. But, it's too late. I've already submitted my losing bid for Tucannon and Wenaha East.
-
Well good luck to you! How many points?
-
I paid no attention. Can't remember if this year is 17 or 18. I keep thinking I'm close to max, but I forget I moved back to Oregon for a few years to sell hooks and worms.

damn!!! I hope you put in for archery??? I put in for those same two units with 19 points, have been since I had 8 points. I just know some lucky azz will draw with 3 or 4 points!! Good luck ( unless you put in for muzzy). :chuckle: by the way, it's never too late to draw, all you have to do is call wdfw and they can change it.

Definitely Archery!
No changing for me. I want to hunt alone until one hits the ground. Then I want professional help :chuckle: That would be tough in Peaches.
-
I would think with no general season in 346 for archery you wouldn't have to many people around.
-

Last year, we never seen another hunter during archery..
-
I would think with no general season in 346 for archery you wouldn't have to many people around.
Probably what the other 122 bull chasers would be thinking too :chuckle:
-
Last year with the fire in manashtash and no general season in little naches where I hunt in taneum was crowded for sure. But no one goes where I go so I still managed to filly tag. Could have shot multiple bulls now if I could just draw again.
-
I don't even care about the stupid bulls anymore. All about quality time in the woods, alone, with an opportunity to tag something. I can find good bulls in the Toutle and guarantee to see no one else for days. And I'll probably put in for that next year again. Unless by some miracle I draw the Blues. If that happens I'll probably never put in for another quality Bull tag in this state. No real reason to apply when at least six general wetside units are better than Toutle without all the rejection.

Would you share the other 6 westside units with me through PM? I'm considering switching just for a chance at something other than spikes.

how many points do the rest of your group have?
-
I have 3, but the other two arent putting in as of ten minutes ago... :bash:
-
If it were me I'd just put in as individuals. with your grandpa having 16 points and really focus on him getting a bull.
-
Kurt, i will be with ya... 16 points modern for me. Hope you draw this year.
-
I have been tempted but will keep putting in for blues archery tag in Tucannon or lick creek.
-
Im always tempted but i will ghost pt for bulls this year and go for an antlerless draw in ML. My son drew an MS permit so ill be devoting most of our optys to him.
-
Of course not :chuckle:
That tag is the most overrated tag in washington state. Blues and colockum are better choices :)
Blues have no elk
-
The Blues have elk. They hide out on the private land behind the No Trespassing sign. Right in the WDFW commissioner's back yard. :)
-
Rad,
You've helped enough people out on this forum and I'm sure elsewhere as well. I see good karma coming your way; especially after the game dept singled you out as one of the few not to draw a multi-season deer. :chuckle:
-
Well, there were over 4000 putting in last year. But only a thousand for quality.
I guess we will have to advertise peaches ridge and get the apps to 2000 this year.
And only 1000 for EM. Looks like you should have no trouble drawing.
You did say you had 10 or 15 points, did you not?
-
Rad,

That's what I keep telling myself every year as I empty my wallet at the license counter.

And do what with the money? Remodel the house, buy a new Mercedes? Go to Vegas and bet it all on the turn a card?
-
At 15 points for modern I cant get to excited anymore, Lots of let down. Hopefully rad will draw and me also, then he can send me all his notes after his archery hunt. :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
drew Little Natches with 11 points a few years back never saw so many big bulls biggest bull I ever saw in the wild easy 350+ only problem is I saw it the evening before it opened hopefully I will draw for Archery

:chuckle:. all this thread has done is tell me NOT to put in for peaches :chuckle:
There are four choices for Bull and two for quality. If you only put in for less than is allowed, then you are hurting your chances. I always put in for all choices I am allowed. Moose was my 3rd choice. Sheep my 2nd choice and Toutle was my 4th choice. Entiat deer was my 3rd choice.
-
Hoping my 15 points will get a Muzzy tag.
-
Group (brother, nephew, and I) for Modern - 10 points each.
Also antlerless for Little Naches - 4 points each.
-
Threw my hat in the ring for a ML permit, choice no: 2. Figured I better, this may be my last year of resident hunting in WA.

You're right. For buck deer I only put one in cause the other choices I don't want. No reason to put into an area I know absolutely nothing about. I'd rather leave those units to hunters that actually know how to hunt the areas.
I put my nephew in for peaches ridge. He's got 2 points so maybe he'll get lucky. He's a pretty lucky kid. I put him in for Moose and big horn too. Good time to start building points for him. A question about that though. All the youth selections for moose are cow only. So if a kid were to get drawn for a cow moose tag is that his once in a lifetime Washington moose? I just put him in for the normal moose selection. If he's ever drawn I'd like him to be able to go for a good bull.
-
Maverick he can draw cow moose and then continue to put in for a any moose tag.
-
And vice versa is true too.
-
My buddy and I put in for the modern October 20 thru November hunt. Average about 18 points.
-
Group of 6 of us in for modern firearm bull tag, I think we have an average of 12-13 points.
-
Don't forget to put in for Peaches ridge before the deadline.
