Winston was packed w roadhunters on the weekend. Some gates are open. Worse then the cf. Saw elk every day behind gates. Did ten miles on bike n foot yesterday. Killbilly did that route today and saw elk and a bear. Rain tonight should help.

Good luck! Can't wait for the big long drawnout story and pic's when you get back! I enjoy reading them. Als expecting you to incluse the pictures of your first bow elk! :IBCOOL:

good luck!

we got into them today. My buddy and I both missed cows. No bulls around. Tons of people.
-
Its only a matter of time ;)

How many more days are you planning on hunting?
-
Ya I was camped down there for 3 days. Saw elk on all three days in deep timber where they are not bothered by road hunters. Speaking of road hunters. I read on this site how bad it was in that unit (Winston), but you really have to be there to actually experience it. Never seen worse.

Crunchy come on over to the Coweeman if ya wanna see worse.

:hello: Good Luck BTKR. I hope you can seal the deal and tag your first bow elk. :IBCOOL:

No elk for us. We saw elk every day but one. We put in between 5 and 15 miles a day behind the gates. It was a mixed deal for me though. I don't care about not getting one because now I don't have to do the rest of the work. But man, hunters are slobs. Garbage, beer cans, candy wrappers and why would anyone pack a whole roll of tp out in the woods?
I did find a nice elk shed and took another pic of a porky. I will post those later.

I found this while stalking a herd of elk. I had just taken off my boots, walked through an Alder swamp and stepped up onto a soggy old growth Cedar. The elk were on my left at 50 yards and I happened to look to the right and at about 10 yards I saw the top two points. After the herd busted I went back to pick up my boots and swung by to grab it. When we got back to our packs we took some pics because I didn't want to pack it out, but I did anyways.

We saw this porky walking along a grade and decided to take a couple pics.

I found this small Cauliflower mushroom about two miles in and didn't want it bad enough to pack it out.

Awsome shed!! Porckys are pretty cool to see....looks like fun, thanks for the pics.
-
Nice shed, that is a good bull for the Winston. I have bowhunted that area in the late season for 20+ years it is amazing the amount of archery hunters that hunt that unit now.
-
