We've been through a lot together: moves, get togethers, breakups, college finals. After more time than anyone should be allowed to keep a condiment, I finally poured my last of my Johnny's seasoning salt on some burgers tonight. I like the stuff, but apparently not too much that I let it last for untold years in my seasoning rack. I guess I'm not much of a condiments guy--perhaps that's why I still fit the clothes I had when it came into my life. I didn't even buy the bottle new--who knows how old it was when I got it. this much is sure, it will be missed. Burgers just aren't the same without it. Therein lies the dilemma: since Johnny's is a Tacoma speciality, who knows whether I'll find a replacement bottle down here in the Southwest where I now reside.
So now the question is: what nationally available seasoning salt can best replace it, if anything? :'(
-
We go through 1 of those every 2 months :chuckle: it's the only seasoning bottle in the cabinet that doesn't even have a lid.

Sorry for your loss.
http://www.amazon.com/Johnnys-Seasoning-Salt-32-Ounce-Bottles/dp/B001DCDCQS (http://www.amazon.com/Johnnys-Seasoning-Salt-32-Ounce-Bottles/dp/B001DCDCQS)
Nationally available and a 3 lifetime supply at the rate you're going.
However - and this may cause you to have to find a new birthday suit - you have been doing your food a disservice by using Johnny's. Try this:
http://www.amazon.com/Tony-Chacheres-Original-Creole/dp/B00161FSZY (http://www.amazon.com/Tony-Chacheres-Original-Creole/dp/B00161FSZY)
I have been using Tony's since I have left Louisiana in the '80s, and Johnny's just does not measure up. What was once only available as a cajun secret is now available to Yankees in the local Fred Meyer.

Find a Cost-co. They should have a whole pallet of bottles 10x that size.
-
Wordekempers out of Nebraska. You'll never go back to Johnny's. Or V's grill you can get in spokane or online.
-
get hunkified with Mad Hunky GPR

Thanks for the recommendations all!
Sorry for your loss.

LOL lifetime supply indeed! I guess there's a good use for the anti-caking agent and the MSG after all :chuckle:

I replace Johnny's with Cavender's Greek All Purpose Seasoning years ago...That and Tony's Creole I haven't had the need for Johnny's.
-
Cavender's is another good one, but for different purposes for me.

Gotta second the Tony's recommendation! Its amazing!

Well, sometimes you have to experience a loss to move on and discover something new and perhaps, even better

I love Johnny's, I keep little bottles everywhere in case I should need it. Costco should have it, but if you can't find any I'd be happy to send you a bottle. To me there is no replacement.

Aw sucks, that's awesome of you!
A few of you have mentioned Costco so I'll check it out. While the size of the bottle I'll likely walk out with will be a 3x lifetime supply as another poster pointed out, it will likely be the cost of shipping alone.
Stay tuned..

RIP! :o a Johnny's replacement doesn't exist! I was going to offer to send you some too haha but I see the you've gotten an offer already :chuckle:
Oh... and all mine are MSG free. I didn't actually know they sold Johnny's WITH it until I clicked the amazon link. Here's the MSG free version http://www.amazon.com/Johnnys-Seasoning-Salt-42-Ounce-Bottle/dp/B008DGKPQW/ref=sr_1_1?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1400274379&sr=1-1&keywords=johnnys+msg+free+seasoning+salt (http://www.amazon.com/Johnnys-Seasoning-Salt-42-Ounce-Bottle/dp/B008DGKPQW/ref=sr_1_1?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1400274379&sr=1-1&keywords=johnnys+msg+free+seasoning+salt) if you're wanting that.

Thanks to you too, miss!
Agreed: MSG = :bdid:
Perhaps I would allow myself to use more if a neurotoxin weren't in the ingredients.

Whoa had to update my link, sent ya to the wrong one... but that link (now) is only $14.83 for the 42 oz MSG free bottle. (if you can't find it in stores).

WINCO has it

WINCO has it
:yeah: Thats where we get it in bulk, then I fill up all my johnny's bottles.

This thread is hilarious! I think I have a few 5# buckets of Johnny's out in the garage. A buddy of mine worked there for a while and I have a bin full of different seasoning. I rarely use any seasonings other than salt and pepper.

I am a LOWRY'S guy.

I'll take one if you want to get rid of it.
My whole family loves it on stir fried broccoli with a bit of onion and bacon bits (real ones).
-
Fry up some Jalapenos (take out the seeds first for candy peppers, leave them in if you wanna sweat a little), then sprinkle with Johnny's salt. YOWZA!
-
My apologies to Johnny but he was nowhere to be found at Costco and "Lowrys" was only $5. Plus it had no MSG. There's just no loyalty anymore
It has a best buy date of next year so I better grill more burgers from now till then I guess. :chuckle:
-
:bash:
Wasting meat with seasoning like that
-
Hey! I said I'm making burgers, not meat :chuckle: :cue:
