Title: 2014 Bears - Post Them Here
Post by: Wea300mag on May 14, 2014, 07:10:09 PM: Let's get this years album going. I don't have a Spring tag this year so someone else has to get it started. I'll add to it this fall. :tup:

Post by: MountainWalk on May 15, 2014, 04:00:16 PM: My spring boar. Only had five days to spend away from home to spend for spring bear. My first time ever to draw in WA state. Savage 30 06 220 gr bullets. 30-35 yards. Followed him up immediatly and needed my 41 mag. From the crown of his head to the end was 83 inches and from paw to paw was 69 inches

Here is one more. Not the biggest bear on the mountain, but it was the prettiest. Wish I had taken a pic of the back, because it has a blond back. After seeing 17 bears in 3 days this one was the most unique and I got more meat off it than I expected for an added bonus.

I held out as long as possible for a bow shot, but he just wouldn't give me a clean, ethical shot. So, I opted for the Dakota 76 in .375 H&H. Made for a very, very short tracking job. ;)

Here is one my friend Brian took on the same trip. This one went 8'2" wide and 7' long. 20" skull. And yes, one of the people in this picture is who you think he is. We have been getting various pictures of bears on our game cameras the last couple of months at our place in Curlew. The Mr. and I went over for the last half of the muzzy deer season. It didn't take more than a day to get totally turned off for deer due to the weather not cooperating and started to focus solely on bear. By Sunday we usually have to pack up and leave to get back to our heavy equipment repair business, but this time I talked the Mr. into staying the next week to get one of those darn bears on the ground. So, I left him with a quad, rifle, some bacon and booze, kissed him goodbye, good luck and I'll see you next week when I come back for you. By Friday morning I get the text and picture I was hoping for. At first he thought the bear was small, but when I got the pictures I was relieved to see that he is a bad judge of bear sizes. We had him weighed and he was close to 300 lbs. Good job Mr. SP. here are some sketchy cell phone pictures (I was obviously not there) you'll get the idea though.

A lot of un-notched bear tags out there! Here i wasn't going to post mine, but check her out, she is smaller than your kids bear. I had about a half hour left to hunt bear this year when I spotted her feeding through a big draw. Didn't even hesitate. Bear stew beats tag soup any day. Good job on your kid taking a fawn / calf killer out of the woods.

Post by: PNWBearHunter on February 02, 2015, 11:27:09 PM: I see nothing wrong with those Bears (coasty and Bango skank). I've shot a couple that size. Only time I have a problem with someone killing a Bear is when it is a Sow with cubs or a Cub that is with the Sow. No reason for it.

I'll have to see if I can figure out how to post a pic of my Fall Bear. I think it was around 300lbs but we didn't get a weight on it. The hide stretched just about 6 and a half feet. I shot it pretty late in the season. Later than I normally kill Bear so it had a nice coat and a lot of fat (pies in the future!). Need to get it to the Taxidermist. Just not sure where I'm taking it at the moment. Thinking about a Rug or a Half mount. It will probably end up being a Rug. I've always wanted to get one. I've got a couple head mounts already.
