Athens archery has them listed as a dealer but I've never heard of them. Has anyone been there or are they still in business.
-
Haven't seen a post from him on other sites since 2010. Could have changed screen name :dunno: Manta and TheBest have the 2010 profile as $47,000 annual sales volume with a NAICS code showing, "All Other Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services". And Zillow has the property listed as "852 square foot single family home has 1 bedrooms and 1.0 bathrooms" Received a business license in 2009 and the property has been sold twice since then. Once in July 2010 and once in November 2011.
So I'm not sure they were ever really "In" the archery business. His posts were intelligent and reasonable so might be a great garage shop for all I know. I will PM you the contact numbers I have as they are different than those posted on Athens website.
You could also call Athens and ask when the last time they placed an order :dunno: I'd be willing to bet it's been close to five years.

More importantly what do you know about Athens radsav? I really like the specs of a bow that they have.
-
Any other dealers in the area you know of?
-
No other dealers that I know of. Don't know much about the company. Owner seems like a nice guy with a humble character. Very pleasant to talk to...the brief few times I have had the opportunity.
I've never been a big fan of the bows. They are better now than they were a few years ago. Especially in the fit and finish area. But, I haven't given them much attention the past few years as the other Binary bows like Elite, Prime, and Bowtech have been so much better. And for the same price the two Strothers "copy me/copy you franchise" companies Obsession & Xpedition will make you forget Athens even exists!
I've always felt Athens structural engineering has been more of an "Oooo, that's a cool ugly look" process rather than a solution based approach. To me the whole dang thing is practically backward from an engineering point of view. One of the things I struggled with when I shot the BT Invasion too. But Bowtech remedied that almost immediately whereas Athens seems to have embraced doing things opposite of structural protocol.
The Carbon Spyder and the Bear Agenda might be nearly as ugly. But at least those are ugly for a proven conceptual reason. The 2014 Athens is ugly for no apparent reasoning other than some find beauty in an engineerial abortion. :dunno:
When I have shot them they shot ok. Nothing great/nothing bad. Without question they are one heck of a lot better than bows we shot 20 years ago. And if other bow companies besides Elite, Prime and Black/Carbon Tech would adopt Athens detailed limb finishing bow racks in archery shops would look a lot better!
I can not imagine you would end up liking it as much as you do your Hoyt Hoyts'. Though it does have a small cult like following similar to the brainwashed Hoyt followers. Just on a MUCH smaller scale. But enough that I expect this post will generate at least one death threat and a few unprintable names sent my direction. All signed with a Celtic Cross in the bottom left hand corner :chuckle:

Owner of Mays Custom Archery last posted on Archerytalk May 25th, 2013. Still claiming to be owner of Mays. Goes by the name of WA.bowman on ArcheryTalk. Not sure where he has been the past year. Looks like his shop may have been a virtual ArcheryTalk store. I don't see where he made a single post since 2010 where he wasn't selling something. But, maybe the garage is open somewhere :dunno:

I really like the specs on the Athens judgment and wanted to shoot one.

I really like the specs on the Athens judgment and wanted to shoot one.
Go shoot an Elite Energy 35 and imagine it 3.5% longer, 7% less stable, 25% noisier, 40% rougher to draw, 1.5% faster and 80% uglier :chuckle:

I just want to shoot them all.

I just want to shoot them all.
Man has self control for only one monogamous relationship. If a wife doesn't like her man having more than one gun or bow she needs to be reminded of that fact :chuckle:

I'll shoot all of them next year at the ata show.

I'll shoot all of them next year at the ata show.
Except Mathews! They get all the Archery In Schools bow money from the ATA members, but they started their own show and don't do the ATA. Doesn't seem right to me, but whatever :dunno: Couldn't have picked a better venue for your first ATA. Indy is the best!! I don't know why we ever go anywhere else!
