I have been using a Spot Hogg Whammy fall away arrow rest on my bow for the past year. I like the Whammy but I have had an occasional problem with the arrow coming out of the rest. Recently I have been considering the QAD Ultra-Rest HD Pro Series which is a total containment drop away rest. What are your thoughts on these two rests? Also, do you think the Harmonic Dampener on the new QAD Ultra-Rest is worth the extra cost? I shoot a Bowtech Commander. Thank you!

I switched to the quad this year for the containment. I used a trophy taker for years. So far the only problem I've had was initial set up. Didn't have the timing quite right. All good now. I love being able to sneak through the woods and not worry about it falling off unless it hangs up on a limb or something. I always had to hold the arrow while I was putting the sneak on with the tt. No more.
As for the dampner. Not really worth it in my opinion. I got mine in the bargain cave at cabelas for a steal so mine has it. Otherwise I wouldn't.

could be your d loop gap. if its to small and you have a caliper style release. they tend to be a bit bulkier and can make the d loop grab the nock and spin it off the rest.....
either widen the d loop, or change to a differnt tooth of release.

I new you guys would have some ideas for me to consider. I will be putting a new string on my bow this winter so I will make sure the new D loop gap is correct. I like the capture on the QAD and it sounds like BC has proven its value. I have never seen the Dalton before but it looks slick too. It doesn't use a capture but they sell a rest accessory called the Granny Gripper. Pa Ben ya got me thinkin! I am curious how the Granny Gripper would work with my current setup. I have room between the end of rest forks and the edge of the shelf to mount it. Sounds like a plan to me! Thanks Guys!

well im sure ill get some extra opinions discussing lost speed but i love my whisker biscuit!!!! been using it almost 10 years...just got a bare bones bt guardian....guess what the clear choice (for me) is?? wb :twocents:

This is the first season Ive used the QAD ultra -HD pro on my Bowtech 82nd airborn and love it had some tuning issues at first but got them worked out. I think its a great rest. :twocents:

Thanks Bob! I am really leaning towards buying a QAD and trying the Granny Gripper for my Spott Hogg. Doesn't hurt to have two rests right? I may even be forced to buy a second bow to mount it on. I wouldn't want to have an extra rest just sitting around on a shelf somewhere collecting dust. How does that theory sound? I may have to run it past my wife.

just remember that regardless of wether you get a new rest or not, that if you dont fix your d loop that it will still be putting that unwanted pressure on your arrow and when you release it will just put that reaction of pressure to your arrow making you shoot differently.

I have the QAD ultra rest hd pro series on my 08 Allegience and love it,tuned in easy,it's quite and smooth,worth the money for sure,I got mine off of Archery Talk NIB for $98.00 shipped.
