I actually wish they would have more archery or muzzleloader tags for the OIL species. Lower success rates should in theory allow more tags and improved draw odds for those of us willing to take the risk of burning our points. My dad drew an archery only Umtanum sheep tag way back and I hear stories of that hunt all the time.
Not saying a lot but maybe remove one or two rifle tags per species and translate that into 3-4 archery tags and 2 muzzle tags and then just rotate which units they offer that way. Great way to get more opportunity out there without affecting animal populations.

Only reason success rate would be lower is if someone missed their shot, walking up to them is certainly not difficult. :twocents:

Very true! Of all the moose I've seen in several of he NE units, and that's A LOT, it's very easy to get within 15 yards of most of them. Maybe not very bright, but very easy.

Their vitals are no different than elk or deer, one properly placed shot is no different in either of them. :twocents:

Except that the vitals are larger, resulting in a larger area to properly place an arrow. Should mean that a moose would actually be easier to kill than a deer, except that an arrow has a better chance of penetrating a shoulder blade on a deer, than a moose, if the shot is poorly placed.
