Man, that looks like a nice blackie. Your 1st bowkill? 10 yds? Sweet! A nice blacktail with a bow is quite a feat, congratulations! If you have them, post some close ups of his rack. Always like seeing BTs.

Yea this was a great hunt, I hunt with my 17 year old son, we started bow hunting last year . Tyler my son was the fortunate one last year when he shot a dow at 40 yards when he was going to miss the deer and the arrow skipped off a stump and spooked the deer, the deer did a 180 to catch the arrow in the neck and dropped it in it"s tracks. I WISH I VIDEO TAPED IT!!!!!!!!!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE HAT I SAW. I shot this deer last Sunday the wind was blowing hard we found lots of fresh tracks in the mud in a protected ravine we like to spot and stock and followed several of the tracks when we basically walked up on this guy we were 5 feet at first and he slowly walked away with his head vary low . he was in heavy timber with ferns at about 5 feet high. when he walked at 10 yards he turned and looked back to me I was allready at full draw he was shot through the right shoulder and out the left side . We waited 1 hr, while we waited we saw 3 more could not tell what they were but it was fun watching . My deer went about 50 yards the blood trail was vary good . Now the work started we were about 2 miles I now own a deer cart HA HA . :IBCOOL:

Tylers shot would have made a great video. I made a couple deer carriers 30 (or so) years ago. We use to hunt a walk-in area and 3-5 miles in was the norm. We got tired of dragging the deer and carrying them out on a pole. I had one that I used on the logging roads until I got close to where I was going to hunt and then I would shove it off into the brush until I was headed back out. I would bungee my pack on it and I had a single gun rack on it for my rifle. It took a couple prototypes to end up with what I wanted. The second unit was simply a wheel with two pieces of aluminum flat stock mounted to the axle. Once needed I would find a couple small alders (or other wood) and lash them to the aluminum flat stock with rope that I had. This carrier was mounted to an old pack frame. I used it when I packed in and the larger unit was not feasible. Other times the only option was to bone the meat, stash the wheel and use the pack frame to haul meet. Many times these carriers saved my back and the backs of my hunting partners. Thanks again for the cool pictures and story!
