Title: Carbon arrow ???

In the past I always used aluminum arrows, this year I bought a bow that came with carbon arrows. I thought about changing back but decided to try the carbons that came with the bow. I've been impressed with them on the target range but haven't had a chance yet to see how they perform on an animal. Anyways, too my question, I understand the numbers on an aluminum arrow but carbons are different, the arrows that came with my bow are marked 60-75 while a buddy is shooting an arrow marked 340, can someone give me a quick education on what these numbers refer to? I did a quick search but couldn't find anything, thanks.

Unfortunately carbons don't have a universal sizing description like the aluminum's do. The 60 -75 typically would show the bow poundage range and the numbers such as 340 would be the spine. The only dependable way to ensure proper arrow sizing would be to use the manufacturers sizing charts. All of the major arrow manufacturers will have their chart somewhere on their web page.

Post by: Hoytstaffshooter83 on December 02, 2008, 01:23:30 PM: some carbon arrows are just poundage rated, those are your bargain arrows so to speak, the top end carbon like your buddies 340's are great. the 340 number is the type of arrow in grain per inch weight, a 340 is 9.5 grains per inch while my 400's are 9.0 grains per inch.. same arrow, just one is stiffer then the other...... carbons are the only way to go, im amazed easton still makes aluminum....

Post by: dbllunger on December 07, 2008, 12:49:31 AM: Carbon are great and all you have to do is check what spine you want on most manufacturer's web sights/catalogs. Gold tip has a good sight that even shows all the details. I shoot 7595's at 64# because they shoot well, so don't get caught up in having exactly what the charts show.
