Title: Idaho hunting license B.S!
Post by: 180-GRAIN on June 04, 2014, 07:57:05 AM
So check this out. I purchased my Idaho hunting license and deer and elk tags back in February.  When I received them I knew what they were so I didn't open them and just put the envelope in the safe with all my other out of state licenses. So when the oil permits posted I needed my hunter ID so I opened the envelope and there is no hunting license just hunting tags and hunt report reminders. Long story short I should have checked back when I received the tags in the mail because now they want me to pay another 10 bucks for a reprint of the license. Anyone else ever have this happen to them with Idaho?

They started this last year. They make it pretty clear when you buy that this is what they do. Kind of a pain in the butt. Not the end of the world though.

Is there a reason behind this? I bought my license and tags in january last year and they sent them all to me through the mail.

Do you even need the hunting license since you have the tags? Doesn't having the tags prove you paid for a hunting license? This same thing happened to my brother one time in Oregon. His hunting license apparently got lost in the mail because the ODFW said they mailed it but he never got it. He just bought his deer tag tha he had been drawn for, and hunted without the license. The license number is printed on the tag. It seems that should be enough.

I believe you are required to have the license as well as the tags on your person.

When buying licenses by telephone, the buyer, on request, will be assigned a con rmation number that may be used in lieu of the actual license for 14 days from the date of issue. When this number is used, the person must carry their driver’s license or identi cation card. A con rmation number may not be used in lieu of a tag or salmon/steelhead permit. Purchasers must wait until tags or permits arrive. Licenses purchased online must be printed from the buyer’s computer; they will not be mailed.

I know they say that, but why? If you paid for it but just don't have the little piece of paper that says you did, but DO have another little piece of paper that says you did, shouldn't that be enough for the game warden, and if not him, maybe it's enough for the judge?

Seems like all the other states are starting to make things more complicated like Washington  :dunno: :chuckle:

I completely agree that it is stupid. You can't get the tags without the license. I would probably go hunting and if stopped just show the gamie my tags and tell them you the license must have fallen out of your pocket or something. They can look it up to verify but many are to lazy to do so.

They did it to me last year. I paid the ten dollars and they sent me another deer tag... not license lol.

Yeah I just read that myself. I assumed without reading the regs it would be the same old way as it used to be, send them to us in the mail. Someone mentioned in an earlier post they changed that last year, however I bought mine in January last year and they mailed it all to me. Just a case of not reading the regs on my part  :bash:

The point of this is that if it is confusing enough, people will miss it...thus they can gain $10 extra dollars on the back end. Geez, I had no idea a stamp (postage) in ID costs $10.

Same thing happened to me last year never sent it a month later realized it wasn't coming so I had to have a notary sign a license form and pay 10 dollars too.  Funny thing my original finally showed up in october after the archery season was over.  This year the lady says u have 14 days to call.  After that u pay for a new one :bash:  but idaho was awesome last year.
