Hunt Choice Number   Hunt Number   Hunt Name   Drawing Outcome

I drew a Umtanum ram tag as my third choice with 18 points... It is not the best sheep unit but hey I will be hunting sheep!! Feeling very fortunate. Wish I was going to be around to scout this summer but I will be in Alaska until Sept 5th. That gives me ten days of scouting and almost a month of hunting! Man, am I excited.

I almost s-t my pants when I found out late last night that I drew the Chelan Butte sheep tag. And to sweeten the pot a cow tag in the clockum.  They draw antelope tags in WY in a half hour, maybe a buck tag is headed my way.
I got half in the bag last night and feel like S this morning and I'm totally useless at work today.  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Bob that is a great tag, I had the tag last year and i also had a cow tag too, kinda fun.  Take a look at the post Ram down from last year and you will see my ram, I also seen one with larger horn than mine too. Green mine scored 180"   I will be doing a little scouting up there just because it hooked me last year.

Good luck

Congrats hirshey.  I know you'll have a great write-up.  Can't wait to see it.  Some words of advice:  BE PATIENT!  One pull of the trigger and the hunt is over.  I hunted six days and shot a B&C bull, but it still feels like it went by too fast, especially after applying for 33 years.  Good luck!

I just want to throw out there to the I have drawn all three OIL tags guys, it's just a little frustrating for those of us who have been putting in for 31 years and can't even draw one tag much less three. To listen to that talk I know you don't mean anything by it but it's a little hard to swallow. Just food for thought. :(

I'm not one of those guys  :), but I have managed to draw and harvest goats in 1972, 1984, and 1996 (the year before they became OIL).  The billy in 1972 was my first head of big game and my first permit attempt.  I'm hoping to add my Clemans OIL ram to the list (and wall) this year!  I can see how guys would get a bit ticked off at those who have gotten lucky with permits, but for goats at least, they used to give out way more tags.  Around the 1980 timeframe, they gave out over 1000 tags in the state, so it wasn't as difficult to draw.  By 1996, I think it had gone down to less than 200.

Thank you much. We were a little confused because the initial regs included unit 174 and 175, now there is a correction stating 175 only. I am not complaining as we will have a great hunt anyway, but the unit shrank after we drew the tag.

First off, "Hello", I'm a new member since yesterday.  Second, I also have drawn my first OIL tag after 21yrs of trying,  Mt Washington A goat.   Looking forward to seeing photos of everybody's hunts.

Haven't Been on here for a while but here he is! 2014 Quilomene Ram. Spent most of the season out there glassing till our eyes fell out. Made new friends on the far side of the closed river which ended up being critical on this hunt. He's not the biggest ever shot but it was the hardest hunt I've been on and I'd love to be able to do it all again tomorrow!

This particular day we were on a few Rams near the river, glassing and waiting, one of our sets of eyes on the other side of the river called and said get up north we have a good ram in our sights. 1 hour uncomfortably fast motorcycle ride up the hill to camp and 3 hours of riding the worst roads known to man, we got there. And we see nothing. As we start hiking hills and cliff face we find them hiding on a grassy hillside. I have this ram in my sights at 136yrds 53deg down hill. Just a little to far for my bow. Due to the lateness of the day, the position of the Sheep, and the long brutal dark ride back I elected to switch to my rifle. So I took aim, held 10 inches low due to the crazy angle and took my shot. He stood up as if nothing hit him. I shot again and got a tiny limp from him. My spotter says, he's going over the cliff...  :bash:  We hurry down the hill, rush to the cliff edge where we last saw him and nothing. Shear drop off. My spotter (Brother) says turn around. 20yards behind us there he lies just over a large rock. We had run right by him!  :chuckle:

Like I said not the biggest by far but it was one heck of a hunt and he was the largest I saw in all that time.
My very rough score estimate came out at 150 7/8

Great looking ram!  What's going on with his nose?  Is that sinusitis or just from getting bashed in the face over the years?

Not sure what was up with his nose... looked like scar tissue when caping him. He was fighting the entire morning before I shot him.
