One of the best hitters all-time. Also seemed like a great person we need more like him in sports today. :'(

I remember him when I was growing up outside of San Diego. RIP

Sad day for baseball fans. You literally couln't strike that guy out. .338 lifetime average :yike:, doubt that we'll see another like him

took my son to meet him at san diego st.....very photogenic and personable and very built to flat out hit....son ended up not playing there but was a great impression left in his mind R.I.P. Tony :(

I shook his hand at a baseball tourney down in San Diego about 10 years ago and got to listen to him talk baseball for about an hour. It was a great experience. A great ballplayer for sure!

Sad news. I am not much of a baseball fan, but it doesn't take one to see how classy a guy he was. Always smiling, always ready to play. We won't see another like him for a long time. RIP
