Title: Rimrock Moose
Post by: XsyntaX on June 27, 2014, 01:26:09 PM: I was scouting this last weekend in Rimrock off FS 1000 and came across a small meadow with a few moose rut pits and I could hear him grunting up the hill about 300 yards away. I stayed in the meadow for a while and listened to see if he was on the move or not. He stayed put and I moved on after a time. I was pretty surprised to see those rut pits.

Has anyone here seen moose in Rimrock before?

There are cattle all over the 1000rd and every other road right now, and heard them making all sorts of racket when we were up there two weeks ago.

Once I got home I listened to countless moose grunts and I'm real sure it was the same noise. I could be totally off base but I'm determined to go back and see what that noise was. I've also heard the EXACT noise when I was hiking in the Quinalt area. I'm not sure if there are range cattle there but it was the same grunting.

No moose out there either... probably more likely to find moose in the Rimrock, than the Quinalt with all the moose running around the Teanaway

I wouldn't stress about it. Learn for the experience and move on :twocents:

Post by: PolarBear on July 01, 2014, 12:10:58 PM: My bull is busy digging pits and "belching" for the ladies. He makes that sound right after testing the pee from one of my cows that is a day or so from going into heat.
