I am looking for some reviews on the Outdoorsmans Packs. I currently own a Kuiu Icon and was thinking about changing out. The website doenst say much about internal pockets, cubic inches on the long range hunter, and attaching the load pod. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check out this months Elk Hunter Magazine, they had a bunch of pack reviews in it, and the Outdoorsmans optics pack was one of them.

Dont quote me, but the LRH is about 7200 ci, I wanna say, and the Optics pack 4800-5000. Again, dont quote me, but im positive thats close. Everything ive read about them is positive! Granted, most reviews ice ive encountered centered on the optics pack. The layout looks smooth and streamlined, and I think all the Outdoorsmans accesseries interchange. Im seriously thinking about the Optics pacck myself, along with the Ultra 6000, and the Full Curl system. Hard pick. One thing against the O pack, that I cant say about the LRH, is that I dont think you can use the frame soley. Hope this hhelps.

Thanks for the info. MountainWalk, I own the Gen 1 Icon 6000 and its a great pack. If the new Ultra is any better, you have a hard decision to make. I am looking at getting a new pack or the new frame from Kuiu and the LRH looks pretty solid especially with the ability to put the pod on it.

Pretty sure the Outdoorsman packs will be lacking load lifters.

Only got to play with it for a couple days but im loving the ultra....amazing how well thought out it was

It does have a solid shelff though.

From what I've seen, I agree. I think you will be disappointed going from a Kuiu to the Outdoorsmans, especially when you put some weight in it.

other than durabilty, the kuiu should be the better pack.

My friend has ran the Optics pack for over two years. He guides pretty much year round and has packed out over 70 elk alone with his. I got to pack a hind quarter of my elk out with his this last season. I was super impressed and ordered one the next day. Great layout and built very well. If you are around the Olympia area you are welcome to look at mine.
