I am No bear expert I would guess just under 200

looks more like 140ish would be my guess :dunno: The second pic makes it look small to me?
-
:yeah: I would guess 150 tops. Ears are way to huge for a 200lber. Pretty colored bear.

Like I said I am no bear expert

Hard to tell in the shade. Is it more of a chocolate or does it have a red ish tent?

I agree. 150 at the upper extreme. My first quick look made me think 120. They always seem to get bigger the more I look at them, but first glance is usually the closer bet. Not sure how good that hide will be early August, but he sure is pretty! Couldn't give a guy any grief for tagging it no matter what the end weight ends up.

you spot him over looking for your bull or is that a local one?

I took a bear we call the "minigriz" on the north boarder of White River years ago. Big hump, silver tips and a major melon head. If I hadn't been well versed in black bear I might have passed on him thinking he was a grizzly. He is one of my all time favorite bear! Absolutely gorgeous specimen!
The wife and I were trying to escape the 90+ degree mid-day heat by sitting under a rock outcropping over looking a little creek. The bear apparently had the same idea. The wife was the only one with a long gun but lucky for me she couldn't see him (think she was looking for black). So I took Ruger Bob from her and dropped him in his tracks when he turned broadside at 150 yards. I still catch heck for that from the wife! Not only did I take her gun and kill what should have been her bear...I was also fresh off of back surgery and she did almost all of the meat packing! :IBCOOL:
We always enjoy hunting that area. We haven't had that much bear success in there as the bear seem spread out quite a bit. Very few years have we ever found huntable concentrations even though there are plenty of bear in there. But, when you do find a bear in the White River it is usually something special either in size or color. And once in a while the perfect combination of both!

Great looking bear. I am stoked for August 1 to get here. It's on a Friday so that makes for a 3 day opener this year.

To small anyway....
Nah....Not with my bow and thats why we get two tags!
-
I would say that was the perfect combination of color and size! :chuckle: small bears is less to pack and usually less taxidermy bill. I already filled my east tag and wont be headed west for another... but hope everyone shpots a bear or 2 this fall!

Great color and a small pack out. I like it. :IBCOOL:
