I met up with Elkstuffer this afternoon. We had an evening glassing session.(no Fog) We didn't see any big Bucks but elkstuffer saw 3 this mourning. The hunters are still seeing Good Bucks. A double drop tine Buck was taken yesterday!!! I looked at a picture of it and it looks to go high 190s maybe 200? It's hard to tell from the pics. He has good fronts but weak forks in the back but they are really tall. Oh ya plus 2-12" droppers!!!
-
Know the guy that shot that buck, seen the pic's, truly a buck of a lifetime. The drops are just awsome. Hopefully we'll see them posted here soon.
-
:liar: we need pics! lol jk! I'm glad to hear the unit is doing well this year! Plus it looks like they might have a chance to put some weight on after the rut is over with this mild winter so far!

i need to see pics of that buck. heard about that today through another friend that was over in that area.

I agree get permission to show that photo. I need to see that monster
-
thats good to hear that its maybe picking up a little bit over there...last weekend was a real downer from what we saw and everyone we talked too..might have to make it back over this weekend...
-
Double drop tines! Awesome. Is the picture at Coopers? Glad to hear the fog has lifted. I was over there last weekend and was able to make a couple of trips out to look for some deer, but with the fog it was hard to see 100 feet. I was able to find one nice 4 point, some small bucks and saw a huge bodied buck that looked to have both antlers broken off, one at about 6 inches and the other about 3 inches above his head. He was giving a smaller 3 point a pretty hard time. The poor little guy just couldn't get away from him. It was pretty obvious that he had some serious horn envy going on.
-
I do beleive he stopped at Coopers with the buck so yes there should be a pic there.
-
cant wait to see a picture of this!
-
:'(....... :dunno:
-
Can't wait to see pics, I might have to take a drive to coopers when I get back.

Come on Slider, you are always the first one to climb someones tree about making a post like that without pics. :nono:
-
Did it have 13" bases?
-
If its the same buck i saw, then its a hog. Double drops. My buddy in Wenatchee has some good photos of it. I would love to see a pic to see if its the same buck.
-
OK I have been given permission to post one pic but no details about the hunt or hunter. Please do not ask for details as I will only respect the hunters request. I just seen the buck first hand and all I can say is enjoy the pic he's a HAWG!

Man what a monster!!! Congrats to that hunter!!!
-
Thats what it's about right there. Who cares what it will end up scoring. The drop tines are kick ass. Hopefully he got to pass them genes on a few times before the hunter took the wind out of him. It would be cool to see more bucks running around the area like that.
-
Wow. What a great buck! Congrats to the hunter on a buck that will be hard to top. And Thanks for getting permission to share.

well...a few more choice words were said, but no to be posted...

Did it have 13" bases?
:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

-
once in a lifetime buck, great to see WA has critters like that running around.
-
I dunno he's got weak backs ;) JB
I Have to agree. Those drops are not big enough either, plus the stiker does not have enough mass. I think I would pass, try for a bigger one :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
My cousin sent me this pic on my phone today. I was looking forward to seeing it on here tonight, but got spoiled earlier. Very impressive buck. Congrats to the hunter that found him.
-
WOW :rockin:
-
WOW. Now that's a buck of a lifetime. Thank you for sharing the picture and I hope the lucky hunter finds his way onto the site. Great set of bones there boys. I need to see approximately 999,500 more deer this next month to see one like that.
-
No kidding, that thing is just a stud! Man I wish I still had my 8 bonus points, the bucks are back!
-
That guy is a thumper for sure! :yike: Beautiful buck.
-
Amazing deer, buck of a lifetime for sure!!!!
-
WOW!!! I'd give my last years raffle tag for the unique buck.
-
SaaaaaahhWWeeeet Buck! Congrats to that guy! Not sure why he wouldnt want people to know who he is...I guess those hunter paparazis can be nasty ;)
-
I have noticed Garrett tailing me once in awhile. ;) and I swear I saw MichaelJ the other day watching me from behind an Eastmans Journal at Barnes and Noble.
-
Wow that is one hell of a buck. Congrats to the hunter. Just think its supposed to be a down year. Thanks for posting
KLICKMAN
-
bone i have know idea what your talking about:) maybe we should just ride together ad save gas :) and i swore i was being really sneaky.
-
I have noticed Garrett tailing me once in awhile. ;) and I swear I saw MichaelJ the other day watching me from behind an Eastmans Journal at Barnes and Noble.
I figured since you wouldn't take me up on a photo trip up the entiat I'd just have to tail you and try to learn a few things!!! haha :chuckle: :dunno:
btw, just kidding bout the trip, I know you've taken a ton time this year already and a trip to the Valley probably aint gonna happen!! :hello:
Michael

THats a great buck of a lifetime. I wouldn't however say that the big bucks are back though after being there over the archery hunt. Sure there are still some great bucks and lots of of descent bucks but I still think a reduction in late season tags is needed to keep this trophy area going. I'm not just saying that because I didn't kill one its just my observation having hunted there 6 years ago and comparing it to the last few years. Not to change the subject though , awesome buck.
-
I know Michael. The ice I am skating right now is about as thin as it gets. :chuckle: I even mention deer and I get the evil eye. :chuckle:
-
Nice looking buck! That is what it is all about right there! Congrat's to the hunter!
-
This is the way it ought to be........
I love to see a magnificient animal get the attention it deserves especially when their isn't someones name next to it. That usually leads to questions about the hunters morals, tactics, bank account... adnauseum and the animal gets left by the wayside.
Great Animal!!! Period.
-
Thanks a million for sharing the photo with us. Bone's got it right that is a 1 in a million, or something like that, deer for the state of WA. Great buck!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o
-
    I would shoot that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Incredible buck,congrats to the hunter.
-
Thanks to the shooter for the post. Love them drop tines. Everything about that deer has character. Fantastic!
-
I even mention deer and I get the evil eye.
Maybe you should take up smokin' dope, bar-hopping and chasing skanks - that'd put it back in perspective! :chuckle:
(I just described my wife's ex - all I have to do is remind her, she's more than happy to have me out hunting!)
-
I agree with nwhunter 100%. I hunted the unit hard 7 of the 9 days last week. Yes there were a couple exceptional bucks taken as you've seen. My totals were 160 does and 39 bucks. Of the bucks that I saw only 5 were even close to the 140 p&y mark. All of the rest were small 3x3's and at least 25 2x2's and spikes. When I had this same tag 4 years ago you would see that in 1 day and there was no weather then either. Way too many late rifle tags given out for an 18 day season and too many late archery tags. Congrats to the young man that arrowed the droptine buck. That is truely a buck of many lifetimes. I also wanted to thank Slider for coming up for a couple afternoons and glassing with me. We almost pulled off a great stalk/push.
-
What a Hog!! Great buck! Congratulations to the Hunter!!
-
I heard he rough scored 201!!!
-
try 207 ;) ;) ;)
-
:yeah:
-
I got an email yesterday from Icicle Outfitters with a picture of that buck, they said 201.
-
The buck was measured unofficially when he returned home at 207and some change.
-
Yea the hunter was guided by Icicle Outfitters best archery guide. Looks like he did well for the guy, nice buck for a rough score of 201 by Dan.
Well that only took 76 posts for the BS to start! Thought this post was going well until now. I'm done with this post and I will appologize to the hunter for talking him into letting me post his pic. Skyval That's a pretty bold/false statement to throw out there and to include an outfitter :bdid:We'll see what the record books put him at in about 50 days!
-
yep and i know the guy that killed the buck personally and that buck was a do it your self hunt all week WITHOUT A GUIDE AND THATS A FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get your stories right before you start opening your mouth and if that outfitter is stepping up and telling lies like that well they just got a bad name in my mouth. and i will say again good job to my friend that killed the buck and his friend that was with him all week.
-
THE TRUTH. thats all that matters . awesome buck. congrats to the hunter.
-
Hmmmmmm!!! that is interesting. I think that may be why some people shy away from sights like this. Maybe someone has some bucks mixed up or something. I hope that is the case. Maybe someone should let the hunter know what is going on. Still a masher, no matter what.
-
Boys Boys Boys, settel down. The truth always comes out in the end. Outfitter or not the hunter still has to do his part and that is just one heck of a buck. High fives to the hunter!
-
I hear 185"ish....not saying that's what it is, but plenty of rumors!
I also saw the email from Icicle Outfitters. They were not claiming they shot it or had anything to do with it, just showing some of the bucks that were shot up that way this year. There were also a couple of pics of other nice bucks that they had nothing to do with, just representative pictures of some of the better bucks that were taken this year by hunters in the area.....no claim to fame on the drop tine buck.
"Lighten up Francis".....Stripes - Beginning to feel like one of the other websites around here!
-
Curious to see a legit score on this one. I just dont see 200" with those weak backs. :dunno: I agree that 185 looks more like it. None the less, great buck!!
-
There is only one picture.......With 20 inches of drop tine that buck may be right at 200. You dont know the spread or anything. Yes, weak backs, but who freakin cares. IT HAS DOUBLE DROP TINES. Get over the weak backs and go watch another Eastmans video or somthing.
-
Truely a buck of a lifetime, Congrats on a great animal!!!!!!!
-
Man its easy to fire you guys up and its not even your buck :chuckle:
-
i was thinking the same thing, haha.
-
Where can I see the pictures that Icicle outfitters took ( not guided.. Don't want to make anyone cry and get all worked up ) of the big bucks killed in the Entiat ?
-

This is just his opinion Hornhunter, he is entitled to post it. You believe the buck to be 200 and he thinks 185, nothing wrong with having differences of opinion.
I think its beautiful and unique buck as well and would have given him a dirt nap as well. That being said I think the pic is a bit deceiving. For one the ears have been pulled back, this pose gives you nothing to base your width measurement aspect. I think his G2's, backs, are pretty decent, its his G3's that are weak IMHO. For a buck to score in the upper 180's he has to have several things but a good rule of thumb for a typical frame is 18" G2's and 12" G3's and G4's, this is just the start of things to look at when field judging mule deer. I would put this buck in the low 160 class before adding his extras. A solid Washington buck for certain but I don't see anything close to 200 myself. :twocents:
-
I was the one who said "weak backs" and it was a joke, I was trying to make light of the fact that its a hog of a buck, if my joke was taken wrongly I apalogize. JB
-
I just posted it that way to give the folks that don't know the correct point numbers ;)
-
Ok Ok weak backs is poorly worded and I can see how this would offend a person. This is a stud of a buck and I agree 100% that it would take a dirt nap if I were behind the trigger.
Here is the deal. Had it been left at anonomous hunter and no one threw a score up, this would have never been brought up. It would have been left alone I'm sure. Now start throwing up the Magic 200" number and you might get a few opinions :twocents:
I have been proven to be off, and sometimes way off. I do not care. Since I was under the assumption that no one had a real true score yet (I have not seen a sheet), I thought I would give my thoughts. I am entitled to them still.
Here goes a more politically correct version of what I stated earlier for those fragil hearted souls out there who might get their panties in a knot.
"I would really like to see a score on this buck to see if it really is 200" like stated. Im not doubting anyones scoring capabilities, just would like to see. When I put the numbers together I come up with a 160" main frame and 20" of droppers. The G2's appear to be no more than 15-16" or so and the G3's look to be about 4-5". It would be remarkable for the main frame to still be 180", but I'm sure that it could be."
Does any that is defending the 200" score have the actual measurment so I can stick my foot in my mouth. I have no problems sticking my foot in my mouth but I will not do so without seeing a full set of numbers rather thatn a bashing of my opinion. It is very easy to just throw out 200". Give us a little support huh.
-
I tried to do a little math and came up with 200" gross, although it's real hard to tell by the picture.
I'd never shoot that buck, I'd have have buck fever so bad I'd probably forget I had my bow!
great buck for sure!
-
No kidding, I would need oxygen. :chuckle:
-
I think the picture is deceptive... look at how the droppers twist and curl... I'd put them closer to 15" and 16".... The way his mains twist up add a few more inches than normal, I'd put his inside spread credit at 26", and since the picture is taken at a downward angle, he's a lot taller than what you'd think imho... I see no reason why he couldn't gross over 200...
Remember that big 3 point bone photo'd the day after he shot his buck in Alta? He guessed that buck as a three point close to 180, and this bucks dimensions are just as good imho... :dunno:
Like you guys said, we need an official score sheet to really tell!
And the buck was NOT guided by Icicle... The other high hunt 5 point mainframe buck in the email is BobM's from this site, and I KNOW they didn't guide them... Shag and BobM got that buck on their high hunt...
Dale just sent out that email wishing everybody merry christmas and thought it'd be nice to show ya'll some of the hogs that were killed this year in the state. Doesn't mean they guided them! And if you look on their Icicle Outfitters hunting page under "More hunting pics" you'll see neither of the bucks posted, because they didn't guide them.
Michael

Phool- I respect your judgement. All I said was there is only one picture. How wide is it? How tall? Main beams? Drope tines ? Kickers? eye guards? its all a mystery. We all can guess but until we have three different pics from three different angles NOBODY can GUESS accuratley. DIRT NAP MATERIAL FOR SURE ;)
When I dream at night I dream of bucks like that mounted all around my dream trophy room!!!!
-
I'm going to through in a "guess" of 189 1/2" NT. Whatever it ends up, it's my dream buck. Congrats to the hunter. I look forward to hearing the story.
-
Who cares about scores! The only score you can put on a buck like that is "Holy S#&*"! It doesn't get any better than that! JBar, thanks for posting the pic, I know everyone on here really enjoys seeing a buck like that regardless of any negative sounding comments. Taking an old wise buck like that in Washington is one thing, but taking it in Washington with a bow in open country, tell your friend that he is the man. Congrats to your son on a great buck as well. I know it can be a challenge to get close to those deer, even during the rut. Congrats to him also on another true trophy. Just awesome!
-
+1
-
Who cares about scores!
Well I guess I do....not because it makes that buck any less or more of a shooter (definite shooter), only because I like the challenge of judging an animal on the hoof with a limited view and/or reference point.
Think of having the raffle tag or a tag that you have been holding out for for several years (you want a 190" or better) and you have a quick snap shot of a buck that you misjudge and end up putting your tag on a 170". Nice buck, but not what you were personally looking for.
Over scoring is a very common practice among us hunters. Can't tell you the number of 200" class bucks that I heard about when I had the raffle tag in 2005. Seems that you could find one in most units in WA :chuckle:
Great buck, congratulations to the hunter and thanks for posting. Did anyone have any additional pics and/or an official green score? Either of the two would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I agree with that statement. I don't know how many times that I've been working on a 22" 145 class buck and a customer will walk in and think it's a 28" 180 buck. Its kind of funny
-
*censored* or Dear! Here we go again :chuckle:
I love them double drops! Buck of a lifetime there!
-
I wish I had the raffle tag in 2005!
-
Nope i didnt touch that beast!
you will know when i do......
hahaha
-
Very cool to see bucks like that.
-
another double droptine taken in chelan county http://www.altalake.com/sawtoothoutfitters/packinghuntingphotos.html. . .. probably most of you have seen it but after seeing this buck i kinda thought it was cool to see em one after the other. . . .anyone else have any double droppies in chelan? ncw? be interesting to see what guys have seen taken or have taken themselves.
-
Nice buck but why do guys have to shove them out toward the camera like that :bash:
-

+1 I wonder that myself huntnphool. Almost looks painful. :dunno:
-
much harder killing one of those double boys with a bow though. but that is a good buck which i wouldn't pass up
-
Buck was scored at the sportsman show at 205 and some change gross and 200 I think 7/8 net. I beleive it ranks it #2 in Washington.
-
Nice buck but why do guys have to shove them out toward the camera like that :bash:
They do that to make it look wider. it is a big ass deer tho.

The Entiat has always been a good late hunt and is an alright early hunt.
