Title: Berry selfish bear
Post by: woodman on July 25, 2014, 03:48:30 PM
I went up in the hills today looking for bears and saw two. One I was not able to get a picture of, but this little guy was a berry eating machine. I looked across over a log pile and saw it eating berries. It turned around and looked at me, I figured it would take off but it just started eating berries really fast. It seemed to me that it was worried that maybe I would try to get it's berries. It was pretty comical to watch. After a couple of minutes it wandered into the brush.

That is just a little fella isn't it. Look at the size of the ears! I agree, he probably isn't smart enough to view you as a predator yet and was worried about getting his share! Kind of like I was at the dinner table as the youngest. Had to grab and devour if I was going to get my food!

7mmfan, you made me wonder about my old father in law. He was the youngest son of out 21 kids. They were from the Pennsylvania Amish country and yes they were from one mother and father. I bet the eating situation was very interesting.

Thats crazy woodman! 21 kids = a lot of... food. I bet it was pretty competitive at the dinner table.

You are right, that is crazy. Each one had a good sized family. My wife had 135 cousins. (name tags at the family reunions)

Mind if I ask what elevation?  I have to work early tomorrow but will be out there early afternoon.  I was fishing on Saturday around 3500ft and saw nothing but didn't spend much time scouting down low.

I would have to guess because I did not take special note of that. I would say between 1500' and 2000', not real high.
