Title: Price for a bear rug?
Post by: Bmcox86 on July 31, 2014, 09:06:21 PM: What's a good price for a bear rug? I am going in a hunt in a few weeks and if I get lucky was hoping to get a rug done if it was reasonable enough. What's the average price range? This will be black bear. Also what about the skull?

I got my first last year and it's a little over a grand for the rug. And the skull would be an extra fee to whiten I think. Not sure exact price on the but around $100. Maybe a little less. Gives you a ballpark at least. Good luck out there

Is that for a rug mounted to felt or the cost to just tan the hide? I'm wondering the same things and am not sure about the terminology on bear mounts.

those numbers would work out to 900-1200 for a 6 foot bear which sounds about what I have heard over the last few years poking around....just in case I ever kill a bear
