Title: need help with a good area for bears
Post by: fishingbum1 on August 05, 2014, 11:00:59 AM: i live around Arlington and would like a general area to look for bears. I'm taking my youngest son hunting and would like to see something. went outside of granite falls on mountain loop highway and saw nothing. would like to know whats between Arlington and Darington. thanks :bash:

I won't come out and bash you, though others might.

Your coming into a hunting forum with your first post and asking for an area where someone "knows" you will see bears. As hunting areas shrink and seemingly more people become concentrated into smaller area's, you will see good hunting spots becoming more and more dear to individual hunters.

I'd suggest utilizing the search function, and maybe introducing yourself in the new members thread.

I doubt you will get an answer to your original question.

Post by: HUNT-HARD on August 05, 2014, 11:45:40 AM: The best thing you can do is get a map and start checking areas closes to you and scout. Bears this time of year are working the berries over really good and can be spotted any time of day. Get out and burn some boot leather scouting the areas. Start out hunting for water and food sources that are close together.

Anyway, take a gander at the sticky up top regarding spring bears. If you are getting out and about exploring the areas around Darrington, where there are good bears I understand, you may see some peels from this spring and give you and idea of some bear like areas. I would be focusing on the food. Plain and simple. They are eating berries berries berries! Good luck and safe hunting.

Stick to areas with lots of berries and water near by.
Look for poo and start huntin.

Post by: Ripper on August 05, 2014, 07:18:00 PM: Get close and personnal with Google Earth. Use it, use it, use it, Then get out and explore, find out what roads are open and which ones are gated. Lots of places to find bears in the area you are looking in. Good luck and I hope you and your boy see some bears. My son has been with me on 2 bear kills. Those are special moments that leave lasting memories.
