Anyone else have any of these, I'm sure there's more out there. These are a 5x8 and a 5x5 whitetails that are permanently locked. My buddys dad had them before he passed. I personally have never seen any of these, What about you guys.
-
Those were two great bucks that fought to the death.
-
nope
can't pick them up.
-
Never seen any in real life locked up...pretty cool though....
-
From what I understand it was taken off the reservation back in the day, over 30years ago. But no way to tell for sure. The bigger one was hooked to the smaller one when it was shot. Don't know if the smaller one was alive or dead when the big one was shot.

Call Weathergirl, she has a salvage permit for that kind of thing. ;)
Those are pretty cool!
-
Why would he need a salvage permit. The horns are over 30yrs old.
-
You don't need a salvage permit if they were legally shot....regardless of how old they are. That would be an amazing sight when hunting. Thanks for sharing.
-
Or if they were Idaho deer....
-
Are we really questionng the legality of a couple racks a guy has had for 30 years? :bash: how do we know they werent from illinois or anywhere else?
I personally think thats an awesome thing to have! I would love to have a set like that!.
Btw i dont thino i have ever found a dead head that wasnt in idaho... i dont think wa even has deadheads.

No, KF was referring to finding some currently here in WA. :twocents:

Can someone on when/why need a salvage permit? Is it because antlers attached to skull? Curious as see people get sheds all time, never would think need special permit if find bones locked like that.

its illegal to pick up anything in wa unless it is naturally shed antlers... cant remember exact wording but sheds are good. skulls are not.
-
"naturally shed" was the key word they used when I called and asked about a "shed" I got a few years back.

can we make a case for a dead head to have naturally shed his skull after he died? :chuckle:
-
Lol, the one I referred to was under some not so common circumstances at least to me. I didn't even flinch about grabbing it but called after a member here asked.

I was watching Nat Geo last night, Casey Anderson was on studying moose super herds? He was walking through some willow that were over his head, and massively thick and came a crossed two bull moose heads with racks still stuck together.
They were incredibly huge!
-
There is no legality issues here these deer were legally harvested off the reservation not picked up.
-
What if ones sheds were found due to being naturally hit by a car? Way cool sheds I have never seen any that were locked together.
-
These aren't sheds they were legally killed deer off the reservation.
-
Would be neat to have. Ever think about maybe getting forms and capes put on them? A little stain and varnish would bring those horns back to life.
-
I think that's what Im going to do for a display..
