Just got my CVA wolf north west in the mail from http://www.muzzle-loaders.com (http://www.muzzle-loaders.com)
Ordered it last week when it was out of stock, they said it be in yesterday and they promptly shipped it out and I got it today. Didn't think I'd get it that quick but it was nice.
Initial impressions: looks good, I feel like the rear sight is alittle far forward but I'll see when I get it to the range. Breech plug is easy to get out and it will be an easy swap of breech plug and firing pin to swap it to 209 when I get back to the east coast.
Got some power belts in 245 and 295 to test at the range with some 777 powder next week and I'll report back.
Will be using it for my muzzleloader doe tag this year.
Here's the model I got if anyone is interested, it's cheaper than cabelas and sportsmans online even after shipping.

I am always impressed with how quickly muzzle-loaders.com ships my order. They rock.
-
Yeah I was impressed, they actually emailed me to let me know it was shipping g before it even shipped.
Cleaned it for the first time and got some of the gunk out. Is it from the test fire or is it stuff they put in there to prevent it from rusting during shipping and storage?
Also is rem oil ok to clean the outside of the gun? I have all the stuff for the barrel but didn't know on the outside?
-
I have never put oil on the outside but I'm sure it would be ok.
-
I personally like to use birchwood casey gun scrubber and blow out all the factory oil/grease inside and out. Follow up with a light coating of Barricade inside and out.
-
So how does it shoot?

Any updates on the Wolf?

I recently picked up a wolf at sportsmans, for a lower end cheap gun, its a shooter, had some troubles with caps not going of until the 2nd strike, seems to have cleared up after about 20 shots, pretty accurate, easy to clean.
I do not like the sights, they are pretty cheap, and i imagine will be easy to break if not careful.
I would buy one again possibly, but the few extra bucks I spent on the optima v2 was worth it in my opinion, seems to be a tad more accurate, feels a little better in my hands, but then again, im not used to carbine sized guns like the wolf, so that may be personal preference.
