I just noticed that I am #2 on the elk roster for the area I put in for. Anyone get a roster call before? How long advance notice do they give you? I just signed up and don't really know too much about the program.
-
I admit it: I have no idea what a "roster hunt" is. Please educate me. Is this system unique to Montana?

I was expecting a misspelled Montana pheasant hunt thread.
:dunno:

Not in the title before I opened the thread. Failed attempt at being funny. Never heard of it either.

If it's anything like the waiting list for deer tags I was called about 80% of the time.
-
Apparently it is a well kept secret.

My dad is #6 on the list for his area, but he lives there. I think it's only 1-2 days notice so when they do call it's pack & go if yer from around here.

I can be there in about 11 hours unless I happen to be on a work trip. Still number 2 and keeping my fingers crossed.

you will get a letter in the mail. don't expect anything until after the season ends and they run through february 15. they are all structured very differently based off landowner preference. unit?

Still #2 for elk in 315, can't remember why I picked that one.
#22 for deer in 315 as well.
Heading out Thursday for elk, deer & antelope. Hopefully I won't need a backup plan.
